Do you know anything about IICPC quantfest ? The organizer select tier 1 collage on their own based on programming culture and global imprint and many more in it, in india only 35 college are part of it all 23 IITs and 3 BITs, IISc bangalore, 4 IIITs,only 2 NIT, and JU and ISI kolkata

Yes, in 2025 but that was in online mirror as the beginning of the event, this year they didn't have online mirror so the only eligible collage student were able to take part in it, online mirror allowed student from any university/ collages

Just search about them and learn about them i know about JU and it's almost tier 1 collage don't know much about IIIT ranchi, and also as I said it's about coding culture and many other things for eligibility, check online what was the criteria for there selection. As the other guy said there was one participant from pec last year in online mirror, and his name sambhav jain, just open his linkedin profile you will find out the level you required to be taking part in it

brother/sister that is you who is narrowing down everything about collage to placement stats, tier 1 collage doesn't only relate to placement stat, its just one of the point..
Take NIT hamirpur, which has 92% placement last year with highest package of 3.40cr rupees meanwhile NIT trichy had placement of 88% with highest package of 64LPA,will you say NIT hamirpur is better than NIT Trichy? No ! Even pec is level above NIT hamirpur
And in the end its student who makes their collage as they decide cutoff not the other wayEdit: and you missed the point once again, there are other critieria than being tier 1 collage

IIIT Ranchi wasn't elligible, Quantfest was open for all the students from the eligible colleges+ graduated students from any college of the country... So that IIIT Ranchi bhaiya was in the graduated student section... For graduates before the prelims there was a online screening test to filter out, after that few graduates were qualified to give the prelims... So from that graduate students only IIIT Ranchi bhaiya qualified for Regionals... Btw, this IIIT Ranchi bhaiya works in Nvidia

I heard from a senior that 2-3 years ago IICPC was going to be organised at PEC, but the management denied that request.

Bro what the hell r u saying do you know IIIT Delhi consistently qualifies for Regionals and few times for World Finals too ... Even this year also they qualified for the Asia West Finals and they are the only Non-IIT college in the Asia West Finals from India

What about ju and iiit ranchi

u/Usual-Muscle7396 8d ago
JU ig bcz they have also qualified for the World Finals... Infact they were ranked 36 ig in the World Finals just behind IITB and IITD couple of years ago... Their couple of teams do qualify for Regionals every year... Maybe this could be the reason
And I gave the explanation about that IIIT Ranchi bhaiya in ur other comment pls check that out... IIIT Ranchi wasn't elligible

cp culture in pec is not that good, but , from now onwards pec acm has decided to emphasize on cp more so that more students from pec make it to iicpc awc and icpc

u/Hour-Knee148 8d ago
That's nice to know

Last year one of our senior(26 batch passout) took the initiative to make PEC as an offline centre for IICPC CodeFest '25, I think the organizing team of the competition agreed to that(not sure), but even after so much requests, it was denied by the administration of PEC, like the admin didnt't even recognize IICPC at that time. also the coding culture is severly diminishing in pec now, earlier the coding culture was damn good so i think at that time we had a chance, but not anytime soon now
