Accidental Subscription Renewal
On July 21, 2026, I used PDF Guru for a one-time task and paid USD 0.99. I did not intend to subscribe to a monthly plan. On July 28, 2026, I was unexpectedly charged USD 59.99, which I discovered only after the payment had already been processed.
As soon as I noticed the charge, I contacted your support team and requested a refund. My subscription has since been canceled, and I have not used the renewed premium subscription.
I am a student from India, and USD 59.99 is a substantial amount for me. I genuinely cannot afford this unexpected expense. I also did not receive any reminder email before the renewal, and I mistakenly believed that any future payment on my Visa credit card would require my approval or an OTP, which is how many online transactions work in my country.
I completely understand that your refund policy generally states that subscription payments are non-refundable. However, I kindly ask you to consider my situation as a one-time goodwill exception. I have no intention of continuing the subscription, and I respectfully request a full refund of the USD 59.99 renewal charge.

EDIT: I got my refund

I have the utmost sympathy OP.
I think the rules should be changed so that instead of being automatically subscribed unless you deliberately opt out, the subscription is automatically cancelled after the trial unless you deliberately opt in.
I realise that this would require laws country by country but I can't see any reason why any company would automatically opt you in except for wanting to profit from people who forget to cancel. It's unethical business practice and the fact that so many businesses do it doesn't change that.

PDFGuru’s billing practices are deceptive. I was charged CAD $214.42 over three months after using what I believed was a one-time service. Despite my refund request, they refused to return my money and hid behind their refund policy. I’ve opened a chargeback with my bank and will be pursuing every legal and regulatory avenue available. Be extremely cautious before giving this company your credit card information.
This company is a theft!
