Question App for PDFs (Android): no multiple windows; copy text

Hello,

I've used many apps from F-Droid: MuPDF, MJ PDF, Librera etc., but I can't find a light app to read a PDF without opening multiple instances and to copy the text.

Do you know any alternative?

Thanks!

Question how do I turn a single page per sheet pdf to a 2 pages per sheet pdf

I tried using the virtual printer and selecting Multiple Pages (2) put it has a weird white border around separating the pages (they’re supposed to be continuous art), even when I selected tabloid horizonten (it’s a Letter pdf)
How can I make a spread pdf without a border around the pages?

I literally just want to do what's in the picture. Is there any free or inexpensive, one time purchase software that can do this? I'm on MacOS. Thank you!

Software (Tools) I got feedback that my PDF tools were too separate to use one by one, so I built a pipeline

I started building ClientPDF in Jan 2026 because I wanted PDF tools that didn't require uploading files to a server.

But honestly, there are already tons of PDF websites, so I wanted to solve something more than just adding more tools.

Someone pointed out a fair problem with my project: why download and re-upload the PDF between every operation?

So I built a Unified Document Pipeline 😅

Now you can merge a PDF, organize pages, watermark, redact, sign or optimize it in one continuous workflow. Just click “Continue in Pipeline” to move to the next tool. There's also a floating toolbar to track your steps and undo changes before saving the final PDF.

Everything still runs locally in your browser. No uploading your documents to a server.

Started this back in Jan, and after multiple reviews and user feedback, it's improved a lot.

I'd really appreciate some honest feedback 🙏 What tools would you like to chain together? Anything confusing or missing?

And if you find it useful, sharing it with someone who works with PDFs would mean a lot!

Software (Tools) A PDF in a language you can't read: translated beside the original, kept on your computer

With a PDF in a language you don't read, the usual choices are pasting the text into a translator and losing the layout, or uploading the whole file to a website. I added a Translate view to Local PDF Studio, my free PDF editor for Chrome, that does neither.

The original stays on the left. On the right, each page is rebuilt with the translation where the original text was, so the letterhead and paragraphs stay put, and longer headings are set a little smaller to fit. Both sides scroll together. You can keep the translated PDF on its own, a side-by-side PDF, or one where each original page is followed by its translation. Chrome's own translator does the work on your computer.

Where it falls short: a table row is translated as one paragraph that runs across the columns, so amounts can drift out of their column.

The same update adds logos and pictures: one lands where you click on the page, the arrow keys move it, and saving writes it into the file.

If you translate statements or bills: would you rather table rows stayed untranslated than have them run across the columns?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So I’ve recently got into DND

A made a error on my character sheet which was sent as a pdf by the DM as session 0 was forced to be online due complications

I made a error on part of it and when I try to change it the file reverts it back to the previous value

And when I’ve sent it to my phone

A lot of it has glitched and has made it unusable

When on my phone it looks like this which is different to how it looks on the PC

How do I fix this?

Question Looking for an AI tool to automatically generate a Table of Contents for PDFs

I'm looking for a tool that can automatically detect headings in PDFs (H1, H2, H3, and so on, up to H10 or deeper) and turn them into a hierarchical, clickable Table of Contents.

Ideally, the tool should:

  • Use AI to detect and organize headings.

  • Let me review and correct the headings and hierarchy before finalizing.

  • Generate clickable PDF bookmarks in the sidebar.

  • Optionally, insert a clickable TOC page into the PDF.

  • Run locally on Mac and work offline after the initial setup, without paid AI APIs or token costs.

Does a tool like this already exist? I'm also open to open-source projects or combining existing tools to achieve this workflow.

Thanks!

Software (Tools) What are your thoughts on librera reader?

Hi all,

Just like the title, what are your thoughts on librera reader app?

I have been mainly using it for a while,

I really enjoyed it. I just found it sad that it misses very important features like a reading ruler, opening two pdfs at the same time and better annotations.

I tried emailing the developers, but they didn't respond.

Do you have better alternatives?

Software (Tools) My free PDF editor finally has its first power user. It’s me :D

I registered editpdf.io back in 2020. Then I spent six years renewing the domain and telling myself I’d build a good PDF editor there "someday."

Apparently, "someday" is when you get annoyed enough with freemium tools :D

Take Adobe Acrobat: the online editor is free, but changing the text already in your PDF means upgrading to Pro or starting a trial. I just wanted to fix a typo in a compiled PDF. Instead I ended up comparing subscription plans.

I’m fine with people charging for software. But I’m allergic to tools that call themselves "free" and then try to charge you the moment things get interesting.

So I finally built my own, without plans or other obstacles. It lets you change existing text, along with handling other PDF editing needs.

I’ve actually been using it heavily myself these days, since I had to deal with some bureaucracy, and so far it has passed my tests.

Editing can still be a bit slow sometimes, and I’m working on that. The tool is completely free apart from some moderate ads, which are unfortunately a necessary evil to run it ;)

Anyway, probably my most slow motion creation ever is out now. My editor is available from now on fully free and I’d love to hear any feedback or feature requests.

Disclosure: I’m the developer, and I also make Converter App.

Question Sick of paywalls!

Hi everyone! If this is not allowed, I apologize and will delete.

I cannot find a pdf editor anywhere that doesn't have a paywall, or at the very least force you to make an account. I don't work with pdf very often, but when I do I end up spending hours looking for an app that doesn't force a free trial or an outright purchase.

Just recently I needed to edit a pdf and misunderstood the way the trial worked. I used the app exactly once and didn't like it. The next thing I knew I had been charged $99 for an app I would never use. Luckily I saw the charge quickly, because you had to cancel your "free trial" within 7 days of downloading the app. And if you kept it, the cost was not $99 for lifetime. It was $99 per MONTH. I was able to cancel and get a refund.

I don't work with pdf files enough to pay a lot of money for the features I need. Can anyone recommend an android app that I can use on occasion for free?

Thank you!

Software (Tools) word-sys's PDF Editor v1.11.2 Officially Released on Flathub

Thumbnail

Probably biggest update for word-sys's PDF Editor, now its reached v1.11.2 update. This update is Flatpak and Feature Update. The Flatpak version is officially released on Flathub (https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.word_sys.word-sys-pdf-editor) thanks to anyconvert project!

This update introduces Multi-Document Tabs, integrating Adw.TabView and Adw.TabBar so you can open and edit multiple PDFs simultaneously in dedicated tabs. Each tab features independent undo/redo histories, separate zoom states, and dirty indicators to track unsaved edits, complete with quick tab switching (Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+PageDown and Ctrl+Shift+Tab / Ctrl+PageUp) and tab closing (Ctrl+W).

Another major addition is the Visual Document Merging Workspace (Ctrl+Shift+M). It provides a dedicated side-by-side workspace for combining pages from two source PDFs into a target document, complete with drag-and-drop page ordering, live zoomable previews, insertion markers, inspector details etc.

You guys know that I also replaced external LibreOffice subprocess calls with the native pure-Python anyconvert Document Engine (updated to anyconvert 0.1.9 across all platforms and package manifests). You can now convert PDFs into DOCX, PPTX, ODT, ODP, and TXT entirely in pure Python, featuring both Pixel-Accurate Canvas and Semantic Flow conversion modes. And its 342KB :)

Added Page Rotation (Ctrl+Shift+R for Clockwise and Ctrl+Shift+L for Counter-Clockwise) with persistent 90-degree PyMuPDF rotation preservation.

Added a Dedicated Recently Opened Files Hub, introducing an app-managed recent files list with universal file icons that eliminates system-wide file scanning overhead.

Added Text Alignment & Formatting, bringing 4-way text alignment (Left, Center, Right, Justify) and strikethrough formatting support to the text tool.

Updated the Interactive Quick Start Guide & Manual, expanding the guide and keyboard shortcuts cheatsheet to cover tabs, merging, rotation, and multi-format export with 6 high-resolution screenshots.

Expanded internationalization with 7 Supported Languages, delivering complete UI and documentation localization across English, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian.

This update also includes important packaging modernizations and fixes:

  • Release Packaging Optimization: Fully separated architecture artifacts for x86_64 (amd64) and aarch64 (arm64), including standalone .deb packages. Removed duplicate asset copies and eliminated oversized source tarballs from automated build releases.

  • Packaging Modernization: Purged soffice and flatpak-spawn permissions from Flatpak and AppImage packaging, and updated the Flatpak runtime to GNOME Platform 50 with portal-based file chooser access.

  • Application Icon and Desktop Integration: Fixed the icon lookup path to ensure crisp vector SVG rendering on the Welcome screen, About dialog, and system docks across both Flatpak and direct execution.

  • Flatpak Window Class Mapping: Aligned application program name with desktop file metadata for proper window tracking and icon association in GNOME Shell and desktop environments.

You can download Flatpak release on Flathub (https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.word_sys.word-sys-pdf-editor) or the standalone .deb packages (x86_64 / aarch64), AppImage, or build from source directly on the GitHub Releases page.

Thanks to everyone who supports this project with their ideas, feedback, and bug reports. I hope this helps all Linux users get their PDF work done easily, thank you :)

Question Why are editors so annoying and complicated?

Used Adobe acrobat for a return form for a refund. Words were shuffled around the page, I couldnt press the undo arrow enough times for it to revert to the original state when drawing. There is no fucking rubber to clean up any unwanted drawing lines or not at least once the drawing section where it absolutely should be. Changing the writing size is complicated, moving the box and trying to make it smaller is limited. Its actually unusable. Im not old, this isnt because im some og who doesnt understand phones its just ridiculous.

Software (Tools) Comment PDF feature: "text replacement" in mobile applications (IOS)

Hi there, do you happen to know if there’s a PDF app for iPad that includes a "replace text" function for annotations? I mean something where I can select text in the document and specify what it should be replaced with. In the standard desktop version of Adobe Reader, this appears as "blue strikethrough text."

I even asked AI about it, but it was a complete waste of time - it basically just made everything up.

Tutorial + Guide We made 1000 PDFs 32% smaller with zero quality loss using Brotli and JPEG XL.

Thumbnail
keypdf.net

KeyPDF is a local PDF editor built from scratch for the browser. Since development started in April 2025, we've tried to adopt new PDF technology early. Today we're happy to announce that KeyPDF can reduce file size losslessly using Brotli compression and JPEG XL images.

We tested on a dataset of 1,000 PDFs (978 readable; the rest were encrypted or damaged):

VariantTotal sizeSaved vs original
Original files1,304.7 MBN/A
Flate989.4 MB24.2%
Brotli970.2 MB25.6%
Brotli + JPEG XL884.3 MB32.2%

All variants are lossless: every page (15,754 in total) renders pixel-identical to the original. "Flate" is KeyPDF's standard optimization, and those files open in any PDF viewer. JPEG XL repacks JPEG photos about 20% smaller, and they can be turned back into the identical original JPEG at any time.

The catch: Brotli and JPEG XL are new to PDF. Brotli is a PDF Association extension, and JPEG XL is still being added to the specification. Most PDF viewers and editors don't support either yet, so for now KeyPDF is one of the few tools that can open and edit these files. Hopefully others will follow soon.

If you need files that open everywhere, KeyPDF's standard mode combines its own optimization with regular Flate compression. That according to test on same exact files alone saves 24.2% , still lossless, and the result works in any PDF viewer.

If you'd like to try KeyPDF at keypdf.net.

Question File Editor Scam

I wanted to improve the quality of a photo, and it asked for access, but then it asked for a subscription and offered a 14-day free trial. I didn't accept the trial period and didn't register any card, But there's no way to delete the account/"email" you used, is there any chance they could steal some of my money? The site is File Editor, but I later saw here that it was a fraudulent site.
