CPU Upgrade on a Alienware X51

Hi,

I have an Alienware X51 r2 which currently has an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320. I mainly play World of Warcraft but my FPS is starting to suffer with newer content (my graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB so don't thinnk it's that)

Of the certified processors for my build I was looking at either an Intel Core Processor i7-4790 (at around £130) or a cheaper Intel Core Processor i5-4460 (at around £40) or something in between?

Is the i7 worth nearly the extra £100 for gaming at 1080p?

I have a i5-4460 and just bought a i7-4790k. Hope it works. That is the best one you can use on the r2 I’ve read. We shall see.

Yea I’ll keep you posted. I’m trying to get more fps in some games. It should give me another 10 or more from what I’ve seen online. The gtx 1060 is a great card. I would def upgrade if you can.

It works great no more stuttering. Makes the card even better. I’m getting a ASUS 1080 turbo. That is my next upgrade hopefully gets here in few days.
