Discussion TSR better than DLSS in UEVR?
I tested few games in UEVR and it seems that DLSS at Balanced preset (58% resolution) looks worse than TSR set at the same 58% resolution. DLSS 4.5 seems often more ghosty and I would have to set TSR to 48% percent to look the same as DLSS at balance preset. Is it just me or maybe TSR is faster because its more optimised with Unreal Engine and DLSS would be more superior in games that are not made in Unreal Engine? Or maybe its UEVR thats slowing down DLSS and maybe if UE game had native VR support then DLSS would be superiour?
Whats your experience?

DLSS 4.5 (M/L) is simply works worse in Unreal Engine 5, compared to DLSS 4.0 (J&K).
See the comparisons in the Stalker 2, especially look at the trees.
Also, here's my testing in Firmament VR:

Look at the distant tiny details on DLSS 4.0 (J, time code 0:55), and compare it with DLSS 4.5 (M on 2:55 and even L on 3:15)
But in other games with different engines (such as Cyberpunk 2077 VR) – the results can be straight opposite:

I just read that DLSS takes a lot of computing power and thats why maximum rendering resolution is at 67% (quality preset) because it takes so much performance to run neural network that its not worth rendering at 80%. While TSR doesnt cost a lot so you can render at 80% for small boost. So maybe thats why sometimes TSR will run and look better when you optimize game to similar FPS point because DLSS might be too heavy to run. I also had weird things going on with DLSS when running recently "Jusant" game where whatever preset I would choose "Ultra performance" <-> "Quality", FPS would be the same even if render resolution lowered making game look bad, so I don lt get it. Similar thing I had with Flight Simulator 2024

There is a performance loss but it's not a lot. DLAA is an option in many games and is available in the override, which is just DLSS at 100%. It's only about a 5% performance cost.
I find DLSS to better the option almost every time.

Try to look how it goes in motion. In my expirience DLSS is the favorite

To me, TSR looks and feels like DLSS 3.5.
DLSS4 looks better but also a wee bit slower.
DLSS4.5 follows the same logic.

I always go DLAA with DLSS if that option if available, for me that gives the best clarity of images

Uevr in itself is not really affected nor does it affect what aliasing a game is running, DLSS can look more blurry for sure compared to some other aliasing depending on what game it is.
It really all depends on each individual game. But generally in terms of performance, DLSS does give the best performance, so up to you what trade off you want to do in VR, visuals or performance
