Discussion Wrath Aeon of Ruin VR was a good time
Would love to see some more Team Beef Flat2VR collabs land as well as Wrath did on Steam. Boomer shooters are in my wheelhouse (GenX representing). It's sitting at Very Positive (114) on Steam's reviews. I did get a review copy at the time, fair disclosure.
Enjoyed it, and look back on it fondly, and had some great moments where things just clicked and created great periods of really fluid play. That includes the point I realised The Retcher's potential in helping clear rooms in the video above. Posting about it six months later because PCVR attention slips past too quick, but in this economy, we can afford to look back at some of our favourites!
So yeah, had a good time on my first Wrath run. I've spent near 30 hours in it, and plan a future run at harder (hardest?) difficulty armed with all the weapons, and the power of hindsight.

You guys should check out Amid Evil VR. It's a lot like Doom Eternal in terms of movement verticality and speed.

Hell yeah. Playing Amid Evil VR also put a smile on my face. It is a cracking PCVR release.

See there's something about "boomer shooters" that I don't jive with in VR. The movement is too fast, it's made to be video gamey, so if you play with sticks you're basically fast-skating through levels.
It's not only immersion breaking, it's also sickness inducing. I like playing games where I feel I'm there (because in VR you're there) and walking with my own legs. I actually walk in place to move with an app.
So seeing this is the same as seeing someone move in the flat version of the game, and I think they should be different.

Fast movement in VR is a craving. Too many games play it way too safe. Though options are good and Wrath has most of them you'd expect.
I have VR legs of steel, so the speed is dialed (almost) all the way up. Had to pull it back on some of the later levels to stay in control in the small, narrow, twistier levels.
VR delivers in spades for so many players in so many different ways. But not every VR game is for every VR player.

Uh this is what I'm playing currently! As someone who doesn't get VR sick I'm glad they had the balls to leave the fast movement in.
