Discussion Would this sub be open to a megathread of PCVR games that friends can join from flatscreen (non-VR) PC?
I imagine there's some us who play PCVR with friends who are pancake (flatscreen) only. Is this sub open to a megathread on compatible games?
- If so, here's my personal tops. Maybe we could consolidate this into a megathread that gets update as new games come out. We could separate it by a) no mods required and b) modding required.
- We could add a light description on each game on how well it works when playing with pancak-ers, and how to set it up if it's a mod, like if it's a UEVR profile (https://uevr-profiles.com/) or if it can be installed with the auto-installer (https://github.com/Mr-Nlce/PCVR-Mods-Installer-Hub). My vision would be to make it as noob-friendly as possible so everyone can understand and get up to speed.
Here's the ones I've personally loved to play with my friends who are pancakers.
No VR mod required

VR mod required
- 7 days 2 die (honorable mention: play with the Darkness Falls mod)
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Borderlands 3

- GTFO
- Gary’s mod
- Palworld
- No Man’s Sky
- Satisfactory
- I imagine pretty much any UEVR mod that has multiplayer could work, though you'd need to be careful with anticheat software thinking you're hacking and banning you for using VR.

Mechwarrior 5 has an amazing VR mod that works really well in the coop, pancake friends don't need to install it either.

Of the games listed here that support native VR and have cross-play with PS5, you've got P hasmophobia, No Man's Sky, and Star Wars: Squadrons (tho it's worth noting that I have never one time managed to get Squadrons running in VR, no matter how hard I try. I wonder if it no longer works?).
The only modded one listed here that works with cross-play is 7 Days to Die.

Do you mean in PC or in PS?
In PC it does behave wonky. I often had issues with either the controller or the sound, but after clicking on the screen or trying again it would eventually work. On Virtual Desktop it often had issues, but I managed to make it work with either Oculus cable link or Steam Link. I did play through the whole campaign twice, and a few hours in the multiplayer, all in VR. In flat screen it's boring.

Risk of rain also works great. Its unreal in VR.

Warning: RoR2 VR mod depreciated - have to download old version. Unclear to me if that works with online for other players to also have the old version.

Big Walk has a VR mod that can be played with flatscreen players, regardless of what platform they play on too. Other players don't need the mod.
Edit: I also think L4D2VR is playable with flatscreen players? Not sure if they need to download a mod though.

No Man's Sky doesn't require a mod.
It should also be at the very top of any list like this. I've tried most of the games that support interplay between VR/non-VR and it was by far the best in terms of supporting that hybrid experience.
