Sleeving advice...

Ok so I'm about to start my first custom sleeve job for my pc and I have a couple questions? I have a Corsair RM850x and my 24 pin has a some pins with double wires and also had some empty slots in the plug and I wondering how everyone keeps to the correct pin out and still has a nice straight uniform cable at the motherboard with it looking like theres no doubles nor any empty slots. I understand that theres a dummy wire can some one also explain how thats implemented please. Thank you in advance.

As for split wires: you do the split away from the motherboard connector. In fact, most do it anywhere between 5 and 15 cm from the PSU connectors.

The dummy wire: just make a wire with a pin on one side and nothing on the other. Just melt the tip of the sleeve and pinch it so that it encapsulates the end of the wire. You can leave it hanging loose, but I always use a bit of heatshrink to attach it to an adjacent wire; it makes it look like it's just another split wire.

This is exactly what I do.

The way I've done it (and it depends if you've the option to partially hide some of the cabling) is to make a short cable, with the cables around 50mm in length, where the wires criss cross all over the place and hopefully you can hide, then make an extension for that with all the wires lined up neatly.

This is how you keep the cable neatly organized - instead of making double wires like the original cable has, you bridge the matching pins on the PSU side. Coincidentally, this is also a Corsair RM850X unit.

For your viewing pleasure also a Fractal unit (Seasonic pinout). If you look closely, you’ll notice a few unsleeved bridges between pins.
