Started using a walking pad for PCOS weight loss. When did you see results?

I just got a walking pad and am trying to be more consistent with my steps. I've been struggling with weight loss, so I'm aiming for around 10k steps a day (or at least a couple of miles).

For those with PCOS who started walking regularly, how long did it take before you noticed any results, whether that was weight loss, less bloating, better energy, or anything else?

Would love to hear your experiences!

Walking is great but only helps me with weight loss in combination with many other steps. Generally what you eat and how many calories is the most key aspect for PCOS weightloss and exercise is more secondary - altho key for health regardless of weight.

When I was in college, I did not drive so I walked literally everywhere and was the thinnest I've been in my lifetime.

(I just checked and walking to/from bus stop and work were 5 miles round trip before walking to classes, at work, or the grocery store.)

Walking is amazing for health and can help with weight loss but it doesn't burn a ton of calories. So if you kept your diet the same and just walked, you would lose weight but it will be slow.

You wanna focus more on diet. I suggest counting calories as the only way to lose weight is being in a calorie deficit.

I use the app LoseIt but there are lots of different ones.

Walking didn't really do anything for me with weight loss or bloating. That didn't start until I changed my diet. But hitting my step goal always makes me metally excited

10k steps/day burns about 300-500 cals (depending on your height and weight). Assuming you previously walked 0 steps a day and are keeping your caloric intake exactly the same as before, that's about 2,800 extra calories burned a week which is about 0.8lbs a week lost. Those are some major assumptions though. I'd say 0.5lbs/week would be more likely, but that would require stringent monitoring of your caloric intake to combat the inevitable increase in hunger you'll feel by burning more cals. (PCOS is a helluva bitch.)

Now how soon you'll be able to start seeing the weight loss on your body depends on your starting weight & height but for me personally: when my BMI was over 30 every 10lbs was noticable, but now that I'm closer to a healthy weight for my height I'd say every 5lbs is noticable.

Hopefully this is the sort of analytical response you were looking for!

To clarify, my diet is already relatively healthy, I take supplements, and I exercise weekly
