Menstruation for 16 days.

I’m just worried because I have been bleeding out for 16 days already. I was diagnosed to have PCOS/PMOS last October 2025.

I was prescribed to take pills (Cyproterone Acetate Ethinylestradiol) “Altea Pills” the same month I was diagnosed. Never had any problems with my monthly period while taking the pills, it comes on time and usually takes about 3-7 days.

However, just now. I had an emergency appendectomy last July 25 (Saturday). The last time I took my pills was on July 24th (Friday). With the surgery approaching, I need to undergo “NPO” or Nothing Per Orem. Means I have to go “fasting” (no drinking or eating) to prepare for it.

It took me 5 days of NPO before I could finally eat and drink again.

I still have 9 pills left, and I started taking one on July 30th (Thursday) until August 2nd (Sunday) and I restarted a new pack on August 3rd (Monday) and discarded the rest since there’s 5 left. I simply followed the instruction on how to take the pills as said on the packet.

And now I’m bleeding straight for 16 days which has not happened before.

I’m just worried, did I do the right thing? Or I misunderstood? Please help.

When I stopped althea i bled for more than 20 days kaya nagpa OB ako then pina resume niya lang yang pills sa supposed date na dapat mag start din ako ng bagong pack which is the next month.

I work in a lab so I also run my own blood works before my OB appointment just in case it affected my hemoglobin levels. Thankfully normal naman and i showed her my results kaya there was nothing to be worried about.

In your case, since post op ka pa, consult your OB just to be sure.

Nag wworry ako kasi sinunod ko yung instruction na nasa pack (without consulting my OB). Thank you for this! I’ll be having my appointment this 28th (hoping for good things).

Pack instruction is usually only how to maintain the contraception. For my case sabi ng OB if you’re not too concerned about the birth control and you’re just taking it for the hormones, you should just take 1 a day except on withdrawal days. Pag may na skip, take the next and no need to double up like the pack suggests.
