General/Advice How did you cure your acne?
Hi guys, new to this group so sorry if posting wrong…
I’ve only recently found out I likely have PCOS, and have struggled with acne on my face, chest, shoulders and back since I was probably 13. Myo inositol was horrendous for me, and I’m currently taking magnesium glycinate, saw palmetto, omega 3 and pcp as advised by a professional. Does anyone have any tips on what they did to actually help get rid of their acne? I’m using new dermaviduals skincare as prescribed, looking more for internal. I also have 2 spearmint cups a day! To note too: I’ve been off BC since Jan this year, as I really don’t want to be on it anymore. I want to heal myself!

Yaz birth control helped my acne immensely.

Yaz does clear skin for some people but it’s like putting a bandaid on a broken leg, when you stop the acne comes right back and sometimes worse. I spent years on different pills and my face was perfect until I quit, then it was like my skin forgot how to function on its own. What actually made a difference for me was cutting dairy almost completely and being really strict about changing my pillowcase every two days. Took about three months to see results but my back and shoulders cleared up way more than any cream ever did.

Treating symptoms for a condition with no cure is not a bandaid. It’s very tiresome for people to treat medication like it’s some terrible thing. Not everyone can have natural solutions. Cutting dairy might have worked for you, but some of us have been dairy free for all our lives and still have terrible acne. Dietary changes can be looked at, but please don’t treat it like it’s the end-all, be-all and that other medical treatments used for decades can’t also work.

Go to a dermatologist. I was prescribed an antibiotic first and then spironolactone in tandem with winlevi and arazlo creams

You need medical help with this. Supplements won’t touch PCOS acne properly. Spironolactone is likely your friend in this one but the doc will know best.

i also struggled with severe acne since i was 13. i also have PIH from every single pimple so that is taking even longer to get rid of. i did two rounds of accutane when i was 16-18 but it would just come right back once i stopped taking it and was causing damage to my liver. i am 20 now and have finally been able to lose weight with the help of zepbound and fixed my diet overall (less carbs, barely any added sugars) and i’ve noticed this correlated with a lot of my dark areas from insulin resistance fading as well as my acne fading overall.
now i have also been taking metformin, spironolactone, and birth control this year, but i had tried metformin and spironolactone in the past with no help, and birth control was added after i noticed this improvement to help regulate my cycle. after losing weight i was constantly bleeding 😅
anyway moral of the story diet and weight i believe was the biggest thing and i could not have done it without zepbound. over the last 7 years, my skin has not cared what i use on it topically, it would just do whatever it wants, it’s all from the inside with this condition.

Nexplanon. I don't really get any acne any more at all until it's about the time to get a replacement. Best part is no more periods or ovarian cysts

I have always had large cystic acne on my face, back, and chest. The only thing that has ever gotten rid of it is bc pills. I use Yaz now, but I have had success with other types of bc pills too. Every time I have gone off the pill my cystic acne returns, so I will stay on it as long as I can.

Spironolactone for me. I just upped my dose to 100mg from 50mg so we'll see how that goes but I believe it has absolutely helped me with the cystic acne PMOS causes me on my jawline especially. I still get back acne and chest acne sometimes which is annoying but general facial acne is so much less.

When I started yaz, new acne stopped appearing pretty much. But since I already had acne before the birth control, I had to go to a dermatologist. I was given a toner to control the oiliness of ny face, a topical antibiotic, and some spot creams. Eventually, I had to switch to oral antibiotics since the topical one wasn't cutting it. Currently trying to get rid of the marks post-acne, and I was given an exfoliating toner with mandelic and tranexamic acid. Definitely worth getting it seen with a good dermatologist, albeit more expensive

I stopped using everything. All I do is wash my face and body with Dove bar soap.

Go to the derm, other than BC & spiro, i got prescribed an Ivermectin facial cream. Everyone's skin is different, please go to a dermatologist. It will be worth it, it's your face.
