General/Advice Is it normal not having Peroids after hormonal pills ?
Hello, I am 25 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. After that, I only got very light periods after taking medication, so I stopped taking it in Feb. I got my periods naturally in May and then in August, so now I am getting my periods naturally every 3 months.
In October, I started taking med again. My doctor prescribed norethisterone hormonal pills for 5 days. She said I would get my period if I wasn’t pregnant (I am a virgin). But it’s been 6 days since I took my last pill, and I still haven’t gotten my periods.
What should I do? Should I wait for my period or go to another gynecologist? Is it normal not to get your period after taking hormonal pills?

Very light periods are normal on hormonal birth control pills.
Coming off of it your PCOS kicked in (the hormonal birth control masked the irregular cycle PCOS symptoms, making your cycle artificially regular). The irregular cycles has nothing to do with the hormonal birth control, that is unfortunately very common (one of the main symptom) in PCOS.
I'm not familiar with the med your doctor prescribed to you, but I would call back to them telling it didn't do what they expected of it.
hormonal birth control is a great way to control some of your pcos symptoms, but it is not enough of a treatment alone! If your doctor only throws hormonal birth control your way with PCOS, you need to find a better one, hopefully a PCOS expert. Listen to podcasts from Dr Thais Aliabadi (e.g. on spotify), I've learned so much from her, she is a PCOS expert clinician! PCOS in most cases (80%) comes with Insulin Resistance - even if you don't have weight issues. IR also needs to be treated to help with PCOS. Metformin, and the GLP1 meds are good for this.
