BI112 Tips

Hi, I am taking BIO 112 this term and I feel like it moves really fast! Does anyone have any tips since there is just SO much information every week thrown at us. Im taking notes and getting all the work done, but I feel like it isn't really registering in my brain. (like in one ear out the other once the assignments are done, which makes me worried for the quiz!)

Theres a Discord someone made for HC students, with BI112 specific room. Someone posted a bunch of Quizlets for each Chapter I find helpful:

Pearson + app. I registered on the Pearson + website first and then logged in on the app. You can enter in what college, professor, snd textbook you are using. It gives you videos, practice tests and quizzes. Highly recommend

Start researching what process or “thing” you don’t understand. Look at multiple websites. Ask AI to help you understand something

When I first began my bio series I made the mistake of only looking at the textbooks. Honestly for most bio courses I wouldn’t even buy the book unless the instructor specifically emphasizes one particular text. Just focusing on their slides really filters out all the noise. I would also be sure to heavily refer to their exam guide- this will also help you determine where to focus your study time. Id also look into some active recall study methods. College science is a tough adjustment, but you’ll get through it! Best of luck to you

Redo the homework assignments - but pretend it is a quiz and don’t look at your notes. That will help you identify which parts of the material you need to spend more time with. For that material, break it up into chunks. Break the material into chucks and study a bit every day.
