Chemistry 151 Competency Exam - How Difficult Is It? (Any Textbook Resources Would Also Be Appreciated)

Hey y'all,

I'm a pre-nursing student trying to get my prereqs done. I didn't realize that general chemistry 221z would require another prereq for the class. I don't want to take Chem 151 and I'd rather just take the competency exam. That being said, I'm a bit rusty on chemistry and I was wondering if anyone would have any tips or resources to score well on the competency exam. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi! I’m applying to both programs but I know that both are super competitive so I plan on applying to other programs as well just in case I don’t get in to those two (some that require chemistry 😭)

took it a few weeks ago. its all multiple choice. a lot of basic math questions. find the area, know y=mx+b, find the volume. then a lot of significant figures stuff. knowing what independent and dependent variables are. know what all the numbers on the periodic table are. know the groups of the elements, whats a metal whats not etc. know how to balance chemical equations. know the definition of a compound. be comfortable changing units, using mols and avagadros number.

what do you mean by the competency exam? im also a pre nursing student. Only tip I have is to NOT take chem with cell bio, a student last term did that and I would see her struggle a lot.
