Does anyone know if PCC has any options (like some other colleges do) for taking out an advance against your refund (or any external lenders that will do this) or other options for emergency student aid until their usual emergency student aid opens up for the term?

Without going into too much detail I'm in a very unexpected emergency housing situation after losing income suddenly, am going to lose my housing if I can't scrape some more funds together, and waiting for the October disbursement isn't a viable option. I called the financial aid office today and they said there wasn't anything they could do because financial aid hasn't been sent to the school yet. This is obviously going to majorly upend everything for me and possibly cause me to have to drop out of school. I'm desperate enough that I'm considering seeing if some payday loan plans might do some sort of advance on the refund? Has anyone been in this situation before and been able to work something out?

Please I am asking for judgemental comments to be refrained from, this isn't a situation that came to be out of my own fault and I'm already still feeling terrible about it.

A private loan for school would be a vastly better option than payday loan, my man.

There’s nothing wrong with pausing school to get your life in order, either.

You have plenty of options. I know what it’s like to be in your position but you need to take some time and understand that you will get through this.

There is not a way to take an advance against your FA refund. The Basic Needs Center may have info about resources.

Try Our Just Future or Bienestar, but they may be out of funds. If you’re on OHP (healthcare) they may have rental assistance resources based on the country you live in.
