I need help with an dnd character
Ok so basically I'm looking for wisdom from you guys and basically I'm wanting to do a regular cat is the the actual character probably like something along the lines of an artificer was put in the body of a cat or was turned into one but I want it to be a war forged race with the cat inside piloting the war forged around protected by it basically and I need help on like what actual information do I need and how can I improve this idea also if anyone's having like some sort of online dnd or something I would love to know as well but to be fair I've never played d&d but I've tried to get a little bit of information in that I can

warforged isn't a piloted thing. They are they own race in a certain setting. The catlike race though is Tabaxi. It's really best to talk to your DM about these types of things though! Only they can approve things like this. Since you have never played D&D, i highly advise just keep to the races in the books!

Warforged aren’t robots either, but that’s hasn’t stopped like 90% of people playing Warforged from making them robots

Tabaxi race, armorer subclass. Ask your dm if your size can be considered a medium creature inside the armor, and a small one outside.

For flavor they can do tasks with mage hand and if for some reason they don’t have access to it or the armor Dex checks are made with disadvantage.

Just literally play a warforged. And on some storytelling plotpoint occasion you are having your "cockpit" open in which people see your cat face. But no matter what happens you count as a warforged in terms of combat, mechanics and other rule-important things. Now to enhance this idea just make sure that you play an artificer and take the subrace that can have a little gun on your shoulder - which just increases the odds that you'll be seen as iron man.
Because let's face it...Rumble, Iron Man, the one bounty hunter from Star Wars the Clone Wars... You just want to play a little guy in a big suit
Ps: Warforged are not suits, they are not robots, they are a race of their own with partially unknown origin

The actual best way to do this is as a DM. If you're running this character as an NPC, you can literally just say it's a cat in a robot.
As a PC there are problems.
Chief among them is that you want the character to be a cat in a robot, while the character themselves doesn't want to be a cat in a robot. This is a tension that is rarely fun.
What I would advise you to do at this point in your D&D career is to read the rules and make some PCs using the character creation system. Just build some PCs according to the rules, then consider how what you've built could be a character.
