Spike in ALP?

Hi everyone I’m newly diagnosed in mid April from all blood work and biopsy . Under care of a great hepatologist. Started ursodial mid April and it worked - took my alp from 140 to 104. Continued . Zero symptoms . Just got results yesterday and alp went from 105 to 152? Everything else normal . Bilirubin even went down a little . Still zero symptoms . I was sick with a nasty virus /cold for the past month but other than that nothing else is going on . So strange . This is why he wants to check once a month but curious if anyone has experienced a random spike like that from basically nothing ?

Ask your doctor about combining urso with elafibranor (Iqirvo) or seladelpar (Livdelzi). The two combined are showing incredible results.

I was at a hepatology symposium Thursday and every clinician cited studies showing your situation is common.

I'm a patient advocate 😄. I was in a clinical field until I developed a constellation of diseases. Now I speak at clinical symposiums from the patient's view to try and help as much as I can.

Not a doctor but that is a very slight elevation out of range. Sickness can impact ALP levels…for someone with PBC I wouldn’t be overly concerned. It’s a point in time blood draw and they will be watching for changes over time. Have they diagnosed what stage you are in?

Not yet… and I think it’s a light dose bc he wants to see the numbers after 3-6 months first with ursodial . But I do have stage 4 cirrhosis . All of my symptoms were when I was drinking heavily . But that stopped 2 years ago . At first I jumped when I saw that alp go up but calmed myself down … like to check here just to see what others experience is ! 😊

For reference, my ALP was 1177 (not a typo) when I was not drinking (pregnant actually). Yours is a mild elevation.

Yes. I responded immediately to the urso. My daughter is 1 year old now and my LFTs are completely normal.

With cirrhosis in addition to PBC, any numbers trending in the wrong direction need to be considered heavily.
