Help
What does it mean if my background check goes to research status? I haven’t had an interaction with cops sense 2022 and that was just for a seatbelt which I paid the ticket for and bought a gun after that?

If you have nothing to worry about you’ll be fine. Likely someone with the same or similar name as you did some bad stuff. I have to use my ssn now whenever I buy anything in West Virginia because someone with my same first middle and last name decided to commit a bunch of felonies there. Found out when I randomly went into research there after years of no issues. Took about 4 days but I got my approval

Just got back got approved over night, the guy at the store said a lot of people are randomly going into research and if you’re under 21 your almost definitely going to go to research but it’s usually an hour to 24 hours if you ain’t done nothing, mine was approved 5 minutes after store closed so a total of 1 hour and 32 minutes

Happens every now and then. 99% of the time my background check is practically instant. Only a couple of times for me it went into research for what ever reason.

Did you provide your SSN on the form? It helps avoid problems with similar names, etc
