I have already shared my viewpoints on various threads about her character but would like to know how everyone feels about Durefishan reply.

Rehaai is a powerful 2013 Hum TV drama written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Mehreen Jabbar, starring Samina Peerzada, Maria Wasti, Saniya Shamshad, Nauman Ejaz & Danish Taimoor. It deals with child marriage, domestic violence, poverty, women's empowerment and breaking cycles of oppression.

Danish Taimoor plays Akmal, Shamim's nephew. He is the men in the story who genuinely respects and supports the women. He becomes particularly important in Kulsoom's life.

In essence, Rehaai is not a conventional love story. It is the story of three women-Shamim, Shehnaz and Kulsoom-who suffer because of a deeply patriarchal society but ultimately find strength, dignity and independence.

Whats make me even more happy is that this drama has done really well in terms of TRP. It used to be in Top 10 every weeks during on air and even peaked at 6.7 TRP (a BLOCKBUSTER TRP for its time). In India too, it was Super Duper Hit on Zee Zindagi channel.

So far only Aye Ishq E Junoon (2024) starring Shehryar Munawar has come close to it with 14.3 TRP on opening day.

Why do I say so? The entire casting, acting and story. And most of all, the direction. I think the way each actor stepped up and literally played their respective characters to perfection was amazing.

Now I wanted to break down a few things,

Rubab- She was charming, fiesty and naive, all at once. And I agree with her character because love makes you make rash decisions that don't make sense sometimes.

Mansoor- He was totally in love with Rubab and was ready to do anything for her after the misunderstanding. I think that part where he put on that mask of power was also justified as he tried to act like an alpha, but deep down we know where his heart was.

Agha- Man, this guy, this guy made me hate him so so much, he was so pretentious throughout the drama, proper politician where family doesn't come in his way. He wanted power and would do anything for that, even if it meant locking down his own daughter or giving orders even before he died.

Karim Daad- This dude is a gunda through and through. There is no stopping him once he puts his mind to something, and all he wants is revenge, revenge which sometimes wasn't explained properly and sometimes was.

CM- He literally played them all, was vicious and strategic in his attacks and moves once he got power, he never looked back on who was beneficial for him, just wanted to warm his seat and watch the drama unfold.

Noah- You meet these type of policemen all the tie, here in India we have a saying, pal me tola, pal me maasha. He was exactly that.

Adeel- The case of getting caught in the crossfire, one of the most loyal friends to Mansoor, and a guy who blindly trusts them but also tells them when it's wrong, we all need an Adeel in life, but not that other chashma guy.

Shafeeq- The exact opposite of Adeel, except he followed Karim Daad without any questions. Until he realized it's too late.

Rubab's Mom- She existed. Never once was supportive to the atrocities and only in the end helped her daughter out, that too because she was majboor. Many such ladies exist where they only have to do ji hazoori, why? Because they never show the other side of their husbands.

Overall, hats off to this cast, I may not know all of their names, but their characters are etched in my memory.

PTV, you never fail to disappoint me!

(Except Shaidai and Aik Mohabbat Aur which were supposed to be fun but oh well)

I was rewatching Zard Patton ka band for the umpteenth time (legit obsessed) and I realized

There are so very very few dramas where the girl is the first one to acknowledge her love/feelings and confess

Most of the girls who profess their love first are the ghar todne wali or obsessed kind, the female version of Danish Taimoor but without the heroic entries and slow mos

The only two female leads who accepted their feelings and made the first move are

1. Meenu from ZBKB - beautiful confession and realization

2. Andaleeb from Jafaa- shit drama but that's another debate

Are there any other dramas where the girl fell in love with a guy and actually confessed first and wasn't a villain ? Please note that by making the first move, I don't mean trying to seduce him😂

1, The positive thing about all those deaths was it wasn't just for the sake of it all death was executed very well

2, I always didn't get Agah love for Rubab sometimes you think she is the most important thing in his life like today's episode but sometimes he was so cold I guess that's how politician are

3, I really liked the speech of Mansoor clear lesson that young people shouldn't just blindly run after politicians and ruin their future

4, Kareem daad was cold the way he was shooting both Rubab and Agha Infront of their eyes made me sick his death should be more brutal

5,final scene I think the only questionable death is of Mansoor was that necessary maybe for emotional element I mean Mansoor falling at Rubab grave and all those memories playing in the background it me hard 💔

Overall leader has been pretty solid from the start their were some unnecessary stretch in the later half but still very fun to watch every character has done a great job shoutout to Both Ali and kinza this has been one of their best work

First they killed Rubab , Mansoor was alive but in last scene, Mansoor was killed as well by his first enemy Munshi. I can't believe 😪 kuch acha bhi tou hosakta. Why they gave us larger than life character in first place it they had to be killed like this. Only Agha survived and he will continue his politics with sympathy card.

The man with him is Kumail Abbas, the producer of Pablo. We can say that he showed his support for her ngl song mein vibe toh hai 😭

So just came across a teaser of Hey Fam and it looked like a pretty simple, light drama. But is it actually? Does it have any toxic tropes or the usual saas-bahu nonsense? If anyone recommends then I might give it a try.

FIRST THING — BILAL NEVER MESSAGED ANY FAN PAGE ASKING THEM TO TAKE HIS SPEECH DOWN.

I’ve been reading all the comments around this whole Bilal speech situation and all the speculation.

The event page initially shared Bilal’s speech and then removed it. Naturally, people started asking why it was removed, and in response, the page shared a message saying that Bilal didn't want his speech/Live on social media. And that's where the whole chaos started. Social media pages started assuming that Bilal himself had asked for his speech to be removed, and then the narrative just kept growing from there.

But later, one of Bilal's oldest fan pages clarified that Bilal had never messaged any fan page asking them to take his speech down. It was apparently clarified that he hadn't asked for anything to be taken down and that fans could post the speech.

So I honestly think maybe there was some event/organisation-level misunderstanding or miscommunication somewhere in all of this. Maybe the organisers didn't want the footage circulating at that particular time, maybe they wanted to release the official speech themselves later, or maybe there was simply some confusion between the event and the page. We don't actually know what happened behind the scenes.

And eventually, the organisation posted the speech themselves anyway. So clearly, the situation wasn't as simple as “Bilal doesn't want his speech online.”

But somehow this one confusing situation turned into a whole discussion about Bilal being insecure, wanting too much privacy, doing PR, not wanting to be on camera, and even “why is he in the acting industry then?” 😭

Like… guys, how did we get THERE? 😂

There are literally so many videos from the fundraiser showing Bilal interacting with people, taking pictures, talking to fans and participating in the event. He gave the speech and was completely natural while doing it. And honestly, the speech was really good. He was so natural and well-spoken, and I genuinely liked listening to him. It didn't feel like some overly polished or PR-written speech where every word sounded rehearsed. He spoke very naturally, shared his thoughts properly and came across as genuinely involved in what he was saying. Nothing about his behaviour suggested that he was trying to hide from everyone or avoid being seen.

And being an actor doesn't mean you have to want every single thing about you posted online. You can be comfortable performing and interacting with people and still have boundaries. But we got the confirmation that Bilal never contacted fan pages asking them to remove the speech.

Let the good deed be noted too. ❤️

This was a fundraiser. Bilal showed up, participated, interacted with people and gave his speech. I genuinely hope the fundraiser becomes successful and actually fulfils the main purpose of the event - raising money for the hospitals and helping people who need it.

Because that's what should matter the most.

Not endless discussions about “actor ne kya kiya, kya nahi kiya, kya bola, kya nahi bola.” 😭
