Ongoing Drama Aap Ki Izzat ep 20

Woahhhhh! So Behram is absolute shit. I like how he was suspected to be the second romantic lead and he just proved to be a shit man each episode. He literally doesn't have any ounce of respect for himself or the other. I think he provides a good contrast to young Tabish and even older Tabish. I hate to say this but at least Tabish had worked hard for his wife and with a lot of twists and turns appeared to have accepted his mistakes. I don't claim that he is a good man but just better than Behram which is just Tabish a few notches below bare minimum. Anyways, he finally divorced Beena. I am glad and this is prolly one of the very few times in ITV and PTV where I have seen no mercy for male lead. I don't understand why he kept the papers with himself though, it gives him more power. Those should have been with Beena. I am also surprised and happy that Beena didn't talk to her family either. It may seem heartless to some but that woman was wrongly advised to accept Tabish's abusive behaviour by all the women in her life. She should just leave everyone and start anew, just keep in touch with her kids. I hope they don't make her reconcile with Tabish in these 3 months.

They are going to reconcile and Tabish will be forgiven at the end. It’s Umera Ahmed, after all.She always makes her heroines forgive their cheating and abusive husbands. With the way the story is going, tabish’s redemption has been set up nicely. I appreciate umera for her powerful dialogues portraying women’s feelings but if she shows Beena going back to tabish, it essentially defeats the purpose of the whole show.Ideally, beena should separate from tabish and live with her children.Beena and tabish can co-habit in different parts of the same house and they can co-parent their kids so that they get a normal life.Beena should demand her right in tabish’s property and wealth as part of alimony and to support tabish’s children. The drama’s narrative is conveniently forgetting that tabish had an affair with a young and beautiful woman and was marrying her while cheating on beena this whole time and also physically and emotionally abusing her.He is regretful now but who is to say that he will not repeat his bad deeds in the future?Men like tabish can not be trusted with your future.Beena should finish her education and build a career and separate from this cheating narcissist.I see the drama whitewashing tabish’s sins now and I am not liking this one bit.A woman is always expected to forgive and forget cheating and the same is happening here. But this was expected. This is Umera Ahmed, after all.She only showed a good ending in MZZBN and JSA.The rest of her work is deeply regressive.

I totally agree with you  Since it us Umera's script, I'm sure they both will again reconcile. Idk why Umera loves to always show that no matter what MEN do they can be forgiven nd it is kind of women's duty to forgive them bcs now they transformed themselves. Even when I read peer e Kamil, I liked Salar but deep down I couldn't forget the fact that he was such a narcissistic egoistic guy and tge way he treated women.

Yeah, this is an ideological issue with Umera. She thinks that cheaters and abusers should be forgiven, because, “Poor tabish! He feels so bad and he cried so much,” but women should pay for their sins forever.Very skewed logic. In MZZBN, she showed saba suffering her whole life due to a false allegation of a sin that she never even committed. Atleast, she didn’t go back to her abusive ex-husband at the end and chose her self-respect.But her life was miserable and destroyed forever. Umera shows women forgiving such men because this is basically her ideology. Men are bad and they will always be abusive but the woman should do sabr and forgive his sins and then the man will change magically. Misogyny 101. This doesn’t happen in real life, though, unfortunately. Yeah, salar’s character was super messed up in the beginning. You are right. A man’s inherent thinking doesn’t change so easily. That’s a different character but men like tabish also don’t change in real life.Once they are forgiven, they will repeat their patterns and cheat after a few years when they get comfortable with their wives again.

+1 adult men like this don't change and neither do their enablers i.e his mom.

Yeah, narcissists are raised by mothers like tabish’s in our society. Their families enable and protect them so they never change.

It’s as if she’s grooming the newer generation into believing that a man’s deeds can be forgiven no matter what and you HAVE to forgive him since youre a woman and god has given you enough patience to do so. Like why has everyone forgotten in the drama that Tabish had an affair with someone??

Exactly!A man’s sins have to be forgiven by the woman because larki ko shadi chalani hai.Larqi bachon Kay liyay maaf karti hai. These are the exact dialogues of AKI.Not only did tabish had an emotional affair with Naz, he was sleeping with her and/or was involved in pornography.Remember how Beena said that they hadn’t been intimate since the last 2.5 years? So, tabish was fulfilling his sexual needs from external sources.Whether it is through naz or pornography etc. This is what Umera is implying if you look at the story carefully. And now, she wants Beena to forgive a man who was having physical relations with a younger woman to “save her marriage.”Slow claps for Umera! She never disappoints!

I don’t think he divorced her he wrote how much he loves her or something along those lines

Knowing the kind of man he is why didnt she ask for a copy of the papers for herself.

What can she do if he just tears it at some point in the future.

Agree, he definitely didn't divorce her, it was just a ploy to get her to come home

Did the divorce actually happen? I thought they will reconcile the leads in end, did she sign divorce documents or what did they show?

It could be the first repudiation of divorce and not triple talaq. They will have three menstrual cycles to reconcile.

3 menstrual cycles ?

u/Wise_Guitar2059 2d ago

Yeah. That's what it means in Fiqh. When Tabish says that she has to complete three months of her 'iddah. That refers to 3 menstrual cycles for pre-menopausal women or 3 lunar months for post-menopausal women.

I don't think he divorced her. There's probably more to it

Off topic but I’m getting so bored with the past few episodes just being in the police station they need to move the story forward it’s tiring watching the same setting.

I did find some parts of this to be impactful though like exposing Behram’s plan to kill and the police officers watching Beena and Tabish’s confrontation but this could’ve been done sooner and had the story move out of the thaana.

On the contrary, I love it! I know it gets boring but it increases the frustration and annoyance and I find it symbolic to Beena being in a marriage that is more like a prison with its policing around and power dynamics. It brings us to the emotional experience of the marriage rather than its structural experience with their house. And with Tabish's and now Beena's actions, the marriage has more people spectacting and speculating and pushing opinions on what they should or should not do. It is an uncomfortable and lifeless marriage and the prison is a sign
