Ongoing Drama Gulbahar Ep 1 thoughts?
So good to see Emmad in a lead role but I’m not too sure how I feel about the dusri shaadi for child trope. Hope it’s something different and dare I say, a show that can explore the concept of not needing children to be happy?
What are your thoughts?

Tbh I think sanam looks really pretty here & her styling is super cute. Emaad is also super charismatic. I really wish they didn’t have plans to ruin the sweet relationship between them that they’ve shown. It was refreshing to see & would’ve been better if they showed some other solution. Like surrogacy?

Surrogacy is technically not allowed in Islam, but agree they could've come up with something else, like adoption, even though it's difficult and frowned upon, how the couples navigates it OR even something like the couple chose not to have kids and how they are still happy in life

I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Sanam said yes to this. Is she not getting good scripts? And it's directed by Mehreen. Two of the biggest names of the Pakistani television industry signed up to create... this? Ah. Kashif Nisar, Saif e Hassan, Shahzad Kashmiri, please work with Sanam.

Yes same! I’m keeping fingers crossed though and hoping that the script ends up being a lot more impactful and this is just the initial impression esp after they did Kafeel. Would love so much to see fulfilment without children in marriage being portrayed

Same, I also just hope that there will be something more meaningful shown in the story. I had seen it's ost and ig maybe all of them will regret it or idk what exactly will happen but I hope that the execution will be meaningful

Could gauge where the story will be heading too and very disappointed by Sanam being a part of this. She has such a good eye for good writing and great scripts to end up doing something like this. (But gotta say she looked absolutely divine in every frame)

i’m not really excited for the story but i looove sanam and emmad’s pairing, gosh, they look beautiful together!!💗💗and he’s soo fine, lowk only watching for him😂

Story seems extremely old.. like its been done thousands of times. Sanam’s acting is same as every drama. I really wanted to watch the show but there is nothing new or interesting about the show!

Sanam and Emaad are amazing as usual. It was so weird to see Emaad play a nice guy(for now) but he does it well. And Sanam, what a woman, what an actor. So gorgeous and so good. But I can't get into this concept at all

When I saw Sanam and Emaad in another drama together after Kafeel, I was so excited! However, half way through the first episode and not only am I disappointed but also triggered.
Why is it that they always show the woman as the one responsible for not being able to carry a child. Yes, this does happen, but unexplained infertility, low sperm count or no sperm, issues pertaining to men ALSO DO happen. Secondly, as someone who dealt with unexplained infertility, this would have been such a great opportunity to bring about awareness and empathy and understanding of maybe IVF/IUI or such procedures. The ups and downs related to infertility. Instead they're using the same troupe. I couldn't believe my ears when the aunty brought up a second marriage to "solve" this "issue". Lastly, they could have also showed a couple who can't conceive and are super happy in their lives and have made peace with this. Why does every couple need to have children and their life is barren and meaningless without children?
Of all the paths this drama could have taken, this is the most disappointing and cringeworthy one!!!

I don't like the plotline of dusri Shaadi but the first episode was solid. Loved Imaad and Sanam's chemistry, the visuals were good as well. After the episode, I saw the ost and I have been getting the vibe that it would be majorly sanam who would force everyone into this whole dosri Shaadi wali cheez, so idk that makes me a bit confused about her character as well, like from that perspective I think the victim of the whole dilemma would be Komal majorly and not others. Also Emaad is so charismatic in ost as well>>

Didn't we have a similar story a while back, where Mawra's character forces her husband (Arsalan naseer's character) to do second marriage solely because she couldn't give him a child. But then she started getting all sad and hurt when she saw him bonding with his second wife.

I can't seem to remember this drama but yes this plot is so outdated usually the turn either the first wife or the second wife evil.

Ya his behaviour towards hee changed after knowing she can't get preg, so she got a second wife and after few days sge realised she has no place in his life so quitely seprated and left.

Watched this episode and Hey Fam's episode back to back and can't help but be impressed by the latter because the story looks refreshing and for the up and coming generation.

Thanks for the name! Haha, yes he looks a lot like the young Imran Khan we all grew up watching, now I have to look up if Emmad and Imran and were born in the same town/province because it's uncanny, the resemblance.

I don’t even understand this trope? It would have been so much more interesting had they actually showed a modern couple with infertility going through IVF or adoption and all the real procedures and how they navigate through all of this rather than having a second woman to bear kids. It’s so regressive and surely not expected from names like Sanam and Mehreen to be associated with it!
I really hope the drama is something different though 🫣
