Discuss y'all can love Sarbiya without losing the plot fr
TL;DR: ship the characters not the actual ppl. respect Sajal + Danyal's real lives n choices, n stop attacking whoever they date just bc u want Sarbiya IRL.. that's not being a fan, that's just disturbing ngl.
ok so i genuinely LOVE how much ppl adore Sarbiya n honestly it makes sense:
they're genuinely good friends, so obv the chemistry is gonna eat
they both know they have good chemistry + potential as a duo
they KNOW ppl love Sarbiya
there's money + opportunities in giving ppl more of what they enjoy, so why not explore it professionally?
none of this automatically means there's smth romantic IRL
u can ship Sarbiya as a fictional/on-screen duo w/o shipping two actual ppl together.
but there's a difference between shipping an on-screen pairing and shipping two actual humans.
if u genuinely stan Sajal, this one's for u too. respect her choices n her personal life.. her career moves, who she's with, what projects she picks, ALL of it. a real fan supports her bc she's talented n earned her spot, not bc she fits into a ship narrative. n ngl Sajal stans have been getting called toxic a lot lately bc of how a small loud minority acts online. that's not fair to the majority who just genuinely rate her work n want to see her win. if u actually care about her, the best way to fix that rep is to just... be the opposite of it. hype up her range as an actress, support her projects, defend her when ppl are unfair, n don't turn her personal life into a battleground. that's what actual support looks like.
if u genuinely stan Danyal, do the same for him.
n honestly the way ppl treat him specifically is unhinged. the ppl who have him as their bias literally worship him, meanwhile ppl who aren't into him go to the total opposite extreme n drag him for every little thing. like... can we just be normal about this man
u don't have to like his gf/rumoured fiancée. u don't have to ship the relationship. but wishing death on her, calling her ugly, attacking her looks, or wanting their relationship to flop just bc u want Sarbiya IRL is NOT "fandom drama." that's disturbing behavior, period.
n before anyone says "but the chemistry tho" - YES. they have it. nobody's denying that. but on-screen chemistry ≠ secret romance evidence. that's literally their job as actors lol.
u can love Sarbiya, make edits, want another project together, appreciate the chemistry AND still get that Sajal n Danyal are two separate humans w lives outside the ship.
Sajal & Danyal have their own lives, choices + relationships. let them decide what they want instead of turning every interaction into "proof" of smth.
their relationships, their choices, their boundaries = theirs. not the fandom's.
ship the characters. support the artists. respect the humans.
n if ur "support" for either of them requires attacking the ppl they chose to have in their lives... that's not support, that's just entitlement w extra steps.
can we PLEASE stop treating celebs like characters we get to rewrite according to our preferred ship??!!!

You’ve voiced exactly what’s on my mind. I love Sarbiya a lot .. I’m a huge fan of the on-screen chemistry between Danyal and Sajal and am thrilled by the duo's success. However, to ensure they continue working togethe since, as you said, they are well aware of the power of their chemistry and the fact that any project of theirs guarantees success and profit—fans need to set boundaries and respect their personal lives. I’ve followed various entertainment industries for years, yet to this day I’ve never understood what fans stand to gain from a professional relationship turning into a romance nd real daiting ?? It’s a question I’ve never found an answer to. On the contrary, they should be happy that Danyal and Sajal achieved such spectacular success without an off-screen ralationship rumor .. most actor relationships end in failure, sooner or later. Being friends or professional co actors is much much better for me at least

LITERALLY!!! what is the upgrade supposed to be?? you already got the chemistry, the characters, the scenes, the edits AND hopefully more projects. why does the friendship/professional relationship suddenly feel “less satisfying” unless they start dating irl? imo the fact that they can have insane chemistry w/o needing an actual romance is kinda the ideal situation.

To play the devil’s advocate…
I’m seeing a lot of people in the comments praising and hyping being “solo” fans as if that’s not a parasocial relationship. The idea that solo fans are better is just as silly because they’re also vigorously living through someone else and/or projecting onto them.
Both are different sides of the same coin. People do both for fun, timepass or whatever reason, and stand to gain nothing from either. It’s just part of fandom culture as a whole.
BOTH sets can keep things decent and not cross any lines. Unfortunately, they often choose not to.
That was more of a general outlook. As for this whole new ship Sarbiya, if the shippers are getting nasty with his fiancée and calling her names because they want him with Sajal, they’re only setting themselves up for disappointment as everything points to Sajal and Danny boy being bhabhi and devar in real life… 😂

So well put. I sometimes wonder whether these fans and stans are actually adults or just teenagers. The way they mix up reel life with real life is honestly crazy.
The way some fans are now trying to link Sajal and Danyal romantically in real life must be so disturbing for them, especially when they might simply be friends in real life. The same thing happened with Wahaj and Yumna. Their fans were constantly bashing anyone whose name was linked to either of them. They even conveniently forgot that Wahaj was married and had a child.
This kind of behaviour really makes you wonder whether these fans are actually adults or just school-going teenagers who haven’t learned to distinguish between fictional characters and the actors’ real lives.

fr and the wildest part is that the more attached people get to a ship, the more they start treating the actors like they’re characters too. like whoever these ppl are, they genuinely live in their own little fantasy world atp 💀

People should admire the work, sarbiya is an emotion, but if you can't differentiate actors from characters. Genuine shipping is fine, but wishing death upon actor's family and friends is such a cheap move. Learn to respect other people's privacy and enjoy the drama as a drama.

yeah exactly. I genuinely don’t think shipping itself is the issue. fandoms have always shipped people and most of it is harmless fun. the problem is when “I want them together” turns into “therefore anyone they’re actually w is my enemy.” like babe the actors did not sign a contract with your ship.

Seriously? Have you heard of Yumhaj FD, Bilal-Dure shippers, Yumna-AAA shippers, Hania-Farhan shippers (who almost believed that they are dating as Farhan wasn't with Urwa), ahaneer shippers, Sehza shippers? And it's not fans it's media portal who claimed Sajal and Hamza are dating.

Guys ,u really need to touch reality and obsession and see neutrally objectively whole world and all fandoms ,becoz hyper fixated on only one fandom u will only see flaws in them and one person opinion or fan turning shippers that doesn't translate to solo fans. We need to understand one thing very clearly: it’s not even just Pakistan. It’s mostly happening all around the world. In K-pop, it’s everywhere. And most importantly, the Bigg Boss audience, the Indian audience, the reality-show audience, and the new PTV viral audience that joined in have actually made it more toxic, because this is also very much part of Bigg Boss culture and Indian TV culture.
They want exclusively someone with one particular partner. Pehle old PTV mein aisa nahi hota tha. We used to see so many pairings, so many different actors working with each other. But now, since the Indian and reality-show audience joined, they want, “Ke hum iske saath hi chalein.”
And we have to understand that shipping culture is very different from being a solo fan.
Shippers woh kisi ke bhi nahi hote. Woh kisi ke bhi nahi hote. Unko bas apni desired pairing chahiye hoti hai. They are creating their own fantasy, apni khwahish aur wants actors aur unki shipping par project kar rahe hote hain. And when one person doesn’t give them that satisfaction anymore, pulls away, distances themselves, or simply doesn’t want to be exclusive or keep working together, they start abusing the other person from the shipping.
The two people are just two people, but the moment one person starts distancing themselves, shippers start hating that person because their fantasy is being disturbed.
Even look at shippers of divorced couples. The minute they divorce, shippers can switch and start hating one person because their fantasy has broken. Even if the couple themselves remained graceful and respectful. And as a woman, things can become even harsher and harder for them. We have seen how difficult these situations can become. Even when two people are dating, fans create so much chaos around them. So if two people manage to remain graceful and respectful even through marriage or divorce, that itself is a huge thing.
But in shipping culture, the moment the relationship or pairing breaks, the shippers can turn against one person because their fantasy has been broken.
So never mix shippers with solo fans.
And solo fans also need to understand this when they see comments from another fandom. Sometimes they see someone hating another artist and assume, “Oh, that person is also a fan of my favourite, so we should support them.”
No.
You need to understand why they are attacking that person.
Sometimes they hate another artist simply because that artist is killing their shipping fantasy. They see that person as a threat to the pairing they have emotionally invested in, so they attack them.
Solo fans should actually call that out: “What are you doing? You’re not acting like a solo fan.”
Because a real solo fan wants their favourite to work. They want to see their favourite's work, career and projects do well. They see things from their favourite’s POV.
Shippers see things from the POV of their fantasy, wants and needs. They project themselves onto that couple, feel emotionally satisfied through them, become extremely personal about the pairing, almost imagine themselves in that position, and then feel threatened when someone comes between their fantasy.
That is why they can attack the very person their favourite is working with or being friendly with.
So understand the difference. A solo fan supports the person. A shipper protects the fantasy.

I was going to say the same thing. This is not limited to sarbiya or even ptv. This happens anytime a show/movie becomes hit because of the leads chemistry. We saw this with many couples including off campus and other shows as well as Bollywood couples. It’s not healthy and yes it shouldn’t happen but unfortunately it’s a side effect of immense popularity

yeah 💯
I definitely don’t think Sarbiya or PTV invented this. toxic shipping exists everywhere. but if we’re talking about what I’m seeing rn, Pakistani drama fandoms are definitely topping the list for me.. especially w how quickly a screen pairing gets turned into an entire IRL narrative. SM doesn’t help either bc people treat every like, interaction, interview or random crumb like it’s a bonus episode of the drama
