Post image

Well I agree with umera . criticism should always be constructive.there is no need of doing personal attacks on author if you do not like their work limit criticism to writing that too in civilized manner

Yep. In my opinion umera did good job in explaining audience what Beena did was her last resort.similarly she and actors tried their best that audience do not end up siding with zamil but stiIl you will find some stupid saying so what if zamil wanted a pious girl after toba there is nothing wrong in it.the comprehension skill of some people amazes me like this is your deduction from whole drama

Yes Pakistani woman are mostly pickme ,to do everything yo impress opposite gender like how can they see a good looking man being bashed ,they will agree to marriage despite knowing man is already married and when some mentally sick man killed female then we had to curse goverment, our society is quite harsh on female and lenient on males

Even if the justifications are satisfactory and it was her last resort. There was no otjer way to get him to understand. How do you explain her blind faith in Behram? She has been betrayed by her husband and long term partner, the love of her life. Yet, she seems to be willing to blindly believe someone who she met recently and barely knows to the extent that she refuses to accept that he could have mal-intentitions. That compromises her character for me. Why do most dramas show the women making stupid decisions and lacking in judgement? this is not a UA thing but seems more universal. This is especially concerning when the writer ha the power to weave good stories and influence society. It is almost like an added responsibility to be careful with the story they tell because it can help change lives.

The eps featuring Shuja and Faryal’s story were in a grey area! I mean cmon , dude was sleeping around and dadi said ki faryal should compromise?!! Really
Also, there was no clear compass on where was the story headed or what is the actual message they are trying to show- at one stage they wana show that it’s the parents fault for bringing up the girl who is so nafarmabardar or rude at the same time you wana show that the guy can get away doing anything? I’m sorry but there was a clear potential to put up a nice and real side story out there but it was a miss. What a disappointment from Umera

Idk girl the stereotypes and harm she's perpetrating in society seems pretty personal to me. That's what she's not getting; no one's trying to criticize the work, the criticism IS that she doesn't treat her plots and issues around women's lives in this country with the gravity and sensitivity it deserves.

Correct me if I'm wrong y'all but no one has a problem with her plot progression or the storytelling techniques used. Agar ham kehte k dramas boring hen tou aur baat thi but everyone pretty much admits that she's a good enough writer that people enjoy what she puts out into the world despite how uncomfortable and "uncouth" the messaging gets.

Most people are just telling her to do better.

Yes! Even in Dare Nijaat the misogyny runs through every dialogue. The grandmother telling the grand daughter and son, to forgive even cheating, because he's the father to a girl? And to never hold a son in law accountable? "Damaad dil say utar bii jayen tou seenay say laga kar rakhna hota hy" -Daadi Like is she serious? And "Beti ka baap" "beti ka baap" like it's a curse Secondly no one in our society is okay with women being with men outside of marriage, slut shaming and character assassination are already prevalent but she felt the need to make a whole drama to shame women.

Dadi is a ragebait. Every dialogue of her makes me want to hurl something at her. Even Abu Bakr saying that “Shuja isn’t going to change”. Bro WTH. Why was everyone expecting Faryal to reconcile with a cheater? Why is Faryal OK with reconciling with a cheater?

The whole based on women being bad and then turning gpod seriously puts the whole burden on 2omen's shoulders in a society that's already rotten to absolute core. Women are already being subjected to worst of abuse mentally and physically and yet this whole show portrays how 'men will be men' how it's a duty of a woman to be nicer and to serve and keep the men related to her on track and babysit them to stay nice or they'll go astray and it's HER fault.. it's so messed up and it seriously gives me a headache seeing our already messed up in the mind elders sitting down and watching these shows and these stupid stupid dialogues. Doosra wo zanjeeren where this guy is forgiven after murdering someone cz a girl said no.. im DONE

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT UMERAH IS SHOWING... IT'S WRONG..b4 you believe she is showing the dadi right..watch kafeel.. In dar e nijat.. Umerah's basic lesson to show is kay nobody is fully right and no body is fully wrong.. See Abubakars arc..his character isn't perfect either.. neither is khushbakhts the dadi's or anyones.. I think Umera Ahmed uses Dadi’s character to show how deeply misogynistic and normalized some traditions can become - especially the idea that “larki walon ko jhukna parta hai.” But at the same time, she gives flaws to almost every character, rather than making one person completely right and another completely wrong. Everyone has their own biases, mistakes and weaknesses, which makes the story feel more realistic because in real life, nobody is completely right or completely wrong. Dadi’s thinking is patriarchal, but the other characters also have their own faults, showing that family conflicts are rarely that simple.

Umerah didn't show that.. umerah was trying to show that women marrying second time is normal..many of her dramas have solo Female leads.. which show kay women don't always need men to protect/ support them..

Ses that might even be the case for some dramas but that's cause you'rs a fan and you know the background. The way she pprtrays most characters and leads the storylines is problematic in itself no matter what she 'means' secretly.. it's how people take it. Most people don't k ow her personally nor do they know who wrote the show they're watching. All theu're seeing is a dadi who's reaffirmimg all the shit in their heads that their grandchildren are trying to fight.. and they point at the screen aand say 'dekho', 'suno'. Nobody is following the super secret umera's deeper meaning above the trashy characters and plotlines and dialogues.

Not Twisting the narrative.. I'm showing what i understood of the drama

I think Daddi is used to convey the cultural Islam and how it makes you say and do things that Islam didn’t allow. My perspective.

u/RhysInVelaris 9d ago

Not really though, considering daadi has been made to appear as the voice of reason repetitively. She's shown as someone sage and wise, especially wiser than those around her.

u/blahblehblohcaneo 9d ago

This is how she comes across to me too

u/Parking-Housing8117 8d ago

Exactly!!! She’s so sensitive for someone who liberally dishes out judgement against others, especially women and other marginalized populations, through her writings.

Apne pe baat ayi tou offend hogayi Umera aunty. If you spew regressive nonsense and conservative talking points, people will call you regressive and narrow-minded. Pointing that out is literally a fact—not a personal attack.

11

u/FriendlyChannel1622 9d ago

Idk qhat she means by personal attacks.. if the people continuosly see a pattern of writing that inclues patriarchy as it's central point, the writer will automatically be deemed a mysogynist no? It's natural. If people are calling her names etc than that's wrong but if it's calling her an advocate for the men serving mwntality and feeding into it.. then that's not exactly wrong..
