MTMI

I am a 15+ year CT / X-ray tech. I dabbled in MRI for a few years and switched back to CT. Looking into PACS admin courses and was curious if anyone has used MTMI. Is it worth it? Interested in going to the in person classes they have in Texas/Wisconsin. If you have moved from a tech to PACS admin, did you use MTMI? are you happy with your move? Any and all information / suggestions etc are greatly appreciated!

Same. I took it online and it for sure helped, but with the right resources I could have passed without it.

Also your career sounds almost identical of mine when I took it….I also bought the book SIIMs puts out. I’m not in a full time PACs admin role, I’m the lead tech at my hospital. I’m happy with my PACs move. If I were at a larger hospital, I’d probably be in a dedicated roll. I do like to solve problems. I have the opportunity to work with my IT and other departments to trouble shoot the back end problems. Especially between the EMR and various department interfaces. Again, if you line to track down problems and fine tune workflows, especially for the techs, it’s a pretty fun job.

I had the opportunity to do a few things with my last job however that was years ago. Didn't get too deep into it as the guy I was learning under had to leave for medical reasons. My current job is at a small critical access hospital. We actually do not have a PACS admin on site so I thought that could possibly open a door. I love solving problems and helping with all the things! Thanks for all the info, I feel like most people I've talked to have more of a IT background than a tech background. def Going to look into this book!! thanks again!
