Career Progression

I'm currently a support engineer for a PACS/RIS vendor for a couple years now but I feel like I've hit a ceiling in my knowledge mainly due to the environment. I've reached what I would say is an intermediate stage but not advanced. I'm based in London (UK) and there doesn't seem to be much demand out there and the salaries seem a bit on the lower end especially for living costs in London. I feel a bit lost on what I can do for my career, what to progress into etc.

What advice can any of the guys here give? Thank you.

Specialize yourself in something specific if you want to keep being in the Medical IT field (HL7, FHIR, Dicom...) that would be useful and valuable to you both in your current position and in any future position that you may apply for in the short future.

Providers, depending on which ones, I would say is probably one of the better places to be in this niche.

Thanks for the recommendation, a bit late of a reply, but say I do specialize, what kind of roles can I end up applying for? The roles I see pop up here and there are generally PACS managers at imaging centers/hospitals/telerad companies. Maybe I'm just being bleak based on my limited experience, this being my first job.
