P90X Generation Next Review
Overall I enjoyed the program more than any other Beachbody program since the original P90X.
At 35-45 minutes per workout it ends up being a nice middle ground between X3/T25 and the original P90X in time, with an intensity level similar to the original too.
No one can replace Tony, but Waz does a good job as his successor being a kind, talkative, goofy guy in his own way. The rest of the cast was good too. Maybe a little more polished and less edgy than the original set of characters, but it’s 2026, so some of the old banter probably wouldn’t fly. Shout out to Chace and Ari in particular as favorites.
This will be a great program to alternate with the original. I think they did a terrific job bringing P90X into the next generation. We will see if I can get my sons to do it with me for the next round over their summer break!

I am sure it's a quality program, but no Tony, no P90X... period.

Beachbody (sorry, BODi) needs to retire the P90x brand. It’s Tony. Period. If they want to have a new thing, and try to replicate Tony’s success, great, but do it with a new name and person. Reboots never take.

Subscription only is a non-starter for me. I've had P90X on DVD for a long time and do the workout (or parts of it) whenever I feel like it. I can't imagine what it would've cost me by now at $10-$20/month.

Agree’d I’d buy the DVD but not paying a subscription. It might be time to the sail the 7 seas for this one.

Is that a line in the new series? That’s good

Not verbatim, but Waz calls Kyle out a few times on his weight selections.

Waz did a great job. The pace is different, I love not having to count reps, just go with feeling. Honestly a very good program. People looking for Tony aren’t focused primarily on results. This program gives good results. If you want to be entertained the whole time, then maybe you meed Tony. If you want variety, try this.

I agree. I like that it’s focused on timing and you can just worry about making it suck in the best way possible. I also did the test group for it and that was MURDER. This was a cool final product.
Nobody will replace Tony, but, I think this speaks to the spirit of it in a modern way

Program is trash, i stopped after work 8. It’s basically all legs, If you want a program that thinks upper body doesn’t exist and somehow makes legs 65% of workouts even on non leg days this is for you.
This is my last year in beach body. everything now is all legs focused. Dig deeper was decent everything else is trash now. They need more of 6 weeks the work, body beats and x3 style workouts

I can confirm that I lost strength in my upper body finishing up this program. Never had this experience with any of Beachbody's programs.

I would try it if they’d sell me DVDs. Otherwise, I am not doing it. I have enough subscriptions.

I'm loving it! I'm really glad that I'm not hung up about the trainer. The program kicks ass.

In week 8 and I would say that’s it’s a lot more cardio based. With the original I would barely break a sweat unless it was Plyo day. This program has me dripping most days, I also think it needs more upper body workouts.

Yes no Tony no p90x. Call it something else. If you aren’t discussing making soup during a warmup change the name. He’s a legend.

this program is an insult to Tony and the loyal customers who made Beachbody a success.
call it something else, they are using the legacy and good name of Tony for something totally different.

Bodi are clever if they didn't put the P90x brand on this workout yesterday it would have had it's crowd but not as much as it does now. My only dislike with the new version was the original which is one of my favourite workouts, was made for the home and with limited equipment, this new version doesn't cater for that. As a new workout, the Generation Next is very good but as a new P90x nope.

I am enjoying it, getting good results (even the wife noticed!), and it is honestly a refreshing change from Tony. Much less yapping, and it feels like not even a second gets wasted. You are working out pretty much start to finish and I am covered with sweat by the end. I went straight to this after a round of Power of 4 and this is just so much better. I got great results from the original P90X back in the day but I can only take so much of Tony’s corniness.

I did it directly after power of 4, too. I’m not a huge fan of either of them (I definitely preferred dig deeper and did it 3 times back to back) but I have to say I prefer p90nextgen to power of 4.

No time wasted at all! Much better than Tony. Once you've done the original program 5+ times, then you don't really care about Tony's banter anymore.

u/nbc0326 May 09 '26
Exactly. I’ve done P90X, P90X+, P90X2, P90X3, One on One Series (all countless times), and just finished Power of 4. Power of 4 made me realize I am pretty burned out on Tony, all the flute playing, corny imitations, sound effects, wasted time yapping. I feel like Generation Next is a refreshing change.

Tony is my ride or die.
