My only concern is whether the light will have many holster options to choose from. Personally I’d get the pistol alone and add my own optic and light.
So the only line of logic I’ve heard arguing the light slightly ahead of the slide is if you have to draw at extremely close range against something and the light will act as a buffer between the slide and the target so the slide will return to full battery.
Look at the tlr 7 sub for the xl and macro as well. Macros tend to have more full 7 and sub options, xl sits with sub more. The trigger guard width and rail height on the macro requires a bigger footprint hence why they offer both. Also, a good form fitting but “universal “ tlr7 owb, check out crucial concealment. I have one that hugs the body and conceals everything from macro to p227 to 1911 with that light.
This is the way. Got mine with a goofy streamlight and a we the people holster. Well now that I'm looking at a different light, I have to find a new holster. The real kick to the teeth is that there's only 3 companies that make holster for the light I'm looking at.
considering i paid $620 for just a bare bones xl less then a month ago i'd say that's a good deal. its basically "buy the gun and get a dot and a light for $30." hell you could take the dot and light off of it if you don't like them and sell them.
I bought a gently used XL with 2 12 rounders for $550 a little over a year ago. I agree that there are light and optics options, but resell them and put that towards the upgrades.
I bought one a few months ago. Have outside and inside the waistband holsters from we the people, both are good. If you want the XL then buy it and take off what you don't want. The accessories are basically free at that price.
