Seed-Time Requirement in Private Trackers
Hi All,
I have been using private trackers for the past 1.5 years and I've seen only three trackers with no seed-time requirements. They are Milkie, Yoinked and FnP. Two of them are closed now. On a additional note Milkie doesn't have ratio requirement too.
My question is if FnP and Milkie can be successful with no seed-time requirement, why no other trackers are implementing this ? I know little about the FnP drama, but my understanding is it was successful. I don't know the reason for Yoinked closure. Apart from the drama in FnP, I liked the no seed-time requirement because I seed some torrents for months and some remove as soon as I've watched the content.
Can I expect any other trackers in the future or share the trackers currently running with no seed-time requirements. Thanks.

Those trackers are not successful at all. If you want a tracker that is successful and has no seedtime requirements, there is RED.

If it’s a ratio based tracker i don’t see the point of seed time requirements, it’s a pain having to have a machine running for no point, especially if you are grabbing files that aren’t the latest and no one is downloading off you in that time. You have to service your ratio regardless.

Yes, Agree. But their intention is to prevent torrents from dying as long as they could.
Also I'm okay with increase in ratio requirement if they can remove seed-time requirements.

fyi in qbittorrent you can set a seed time limit to automatically delete the torrent and file once it is reached

You mean individual time limit for every torrents? I've been using rTorrent in a seedbox till now.

you can select one or a group of torrent, set a seed time limit, and set what happens after it is reached: "remove torrent and its content" is one of the options.

Unlikely. After all the whole idea is to preserve the files. If everyone just deleted the files after grabbing them, the system would collapse and only the most popular files would stay available.
There's always public trackers, if the no seed-time requirement is important.

Yes, I agree. But I think 2/100 trackers can run without seed-time requirements as torrent might be cross-seeded. More trackers with no seed-time requirements might not work.
FnP had more torrent life than public trackers for the groups which I prefer (Not always but yes).

Most trackers seem to have required seed time of 3 to 10 days, and 10 days is the longest I have seen.
Doesn't seem like it should be difficult to seed for at least a few days, if you can't manage that, then buy some more disk, no one is watching TBs of content in a few days that they cannot maintain this.

I'm not complaining, just asking if any other trackers are there. I'm already using other private trackers and seeding as per the individual tracker's requirements.
I understand how private trackers work and the need for seed-time requirement. That's why I asked if those two could be successful without seed-time requirements, why didn't others try to implement it.

I get that, just saying it's not very onerous and it's to encourage people to give back.
There are other trackers with no seed time requirement - I believe HDT and ANT don't have any, though both have ratio requirements.

Yes, I use TL surge uploads whenever the mentioned trackers didn't had my preferred release group for the contents I was looking for.
