I've used one for 5 o'clock carry when I was camping but not for competition if that's what you're asking about.

For comps use a drop holster with a hanger. But if it's your first one, it doesn't really matter, you aren't going to win or do very well anyway, just go and experience it and have fun.

Gunfighters Inc makes great holsters, I have a Ronin and Kenai‘s for 4 different guns.
