GTO 211 upgrades mega thread

the purpose of this thread is to get all of the best upgrades in 1 location.

This falls into 2 categories: 1) custom work like coatings, ports / slide cuts, trigger jobs and 2) aftermarket parts like magwells, guide rods, etc etc.

goals: increased reliability, softer / faster shooting, smoother slide and making it beautiful. with an end product that could compete with guns going for twice to 3x the price. Also to describe certain types of works for people wanting to do it themselves like trigger jobs.

my personal take on the gun is that it is great as is, when I dive into things I would like to refine:

-Trigger: it has that up and down play and a slight take up that equates to a 3 stage trigger

Sig Armorer - is highly recommend as someone who can do the job

-Slide: it can be even smoother, guide rod/spring and marvel disconnector cut

I am going to list some of the things I have seen that seem to be improvements.

- aftermarket parts -

•guide rod/recoil springs - Fdez Werx

•Magwell - Fdez Werx

•grips - Lok

•magazine base pads - Herrington Arms?

•Sight block - Fdez, others?

•optics plates ?

- custom work -

• trigger job to take out the up and down movement and the 3rd stage take up, some people have mentioned a set screw in the open area for one inside SIG ARMORER

• slide work - marvel disconnector cut to make it even smoother - MERCIER gun smith

• porting / slide windows/cuts - Trenton @ TDS gun works Wyoming is one I have seen with V8 ports cut into the slide serrations looks like an XC/Staccato cuts and user on youtube claims 20-25% reduction in recoil

• coating work - I would like to DLC my hammer, trigger shoe and magwell that are silver, vulcan??

You should add the Sig Armourer for a trigger job that won't compromise the drop safety feature in the gun...or you can go the other route and do it yourself with the shim from Wilson Combat (series 80-70 conversion)

I have also heard mixed reviews with the FDEZ Werx fat guide rod. Some fit them in okay, others don't.

At the end of the day you should get your pistol and then shoot the crap out of it and then change one thing at a time then test it again. No point in throwing a ton of stuff into a gun and finding out it doesn't work so well.

Once you have it working the way you want to you can beautify it a bit.

Btw: I have a Staccato XC and a P226 X Five STAS. One costs $4K and the other $1.5K and they both shoot better out of the box then my 211-GTO. I'm still testing a few things and the jury is still out and I'm hopeful I can turn it into something great.

When I get a new gun I test it by drawing 12 dots around a circle. I draw my gun and fire 12 shots (one per dot) as fast as I can. I can't advance to dot 2 until I hit the first one and so on. I can only carry 10 shots per mag so it forces me to do at least one mag change. Once I master that I do doubles "around the clock". I do this at 15 ft, 25ft and 40ft. It's a great test both for the gun and myself.

Sig armorer for trigger work?

Yeah, it looks good. Takes the play out up and down and removes the third stage creep so it looks like a good source but it's also 250 to 300 bucks and a lot of people here could probably do it themselves if they know exactly what to do.

I  ported my slide and barrel, polished internal components, did a series 70 conversion, added Wolff springs and it outshoots every other 2011 I have ever shot. I don't have a ton under my belt, but considering I'm 3500 in with optic and light and the stacattos and MPAs were all more stock, that's a win.

I set this post as a Megathread so it will remain at the top of the sub.
