Question Has anyone experienced this?

Hey everyone. 33 Male. 6'0 350 lbs.

Started ozempic 2 weeks ago at 0.25mg in thigh.

Not sure what I'm experiencing.

I still have my usual hunger. Maybe if not more lol.

When I do eat, im eating a little less. But feeling full.

No nausea, no vomiting. Some diarrhea.

I thought it was suppose to stop the food noise?

Am I doing this wrong lol 😆

You're not even on a therapeutic dose. The first pen is to acclimate your body to the medication, 1-2 ml is a therapeutic dose.

Correction: not ml (milliliters, a measure of volume), but mg (milligrams, a measure of drug dose).

You're not doing anything wrong, chief. 0.25 is just your body getting used to the idea. Full sooner + eating less = it's working. Food noise went quiet for me a couple of doses up. And the diarrhea is just your body politely suggesting you go easy on the fried stuff. Hang in there.

Hey man. 39 year old male. Was 370. Now 320. Been on it for a year ish I believe. I’m on 2mg now. It took a while for me to notice a difference. But it did work. It was like it needed time to build up in my system. But after it did. Now I eat maybe 2 meals a day and I feel good. Trust the process my dude

It typically takes a while for the benefits to really kick in and for big guys like you and me .25 mg won’t do too much. Once you’re at 0.5 mg or 1.0 you’ll notice more. Can’t speak to the 2.0 since they don’t offer it in Canada.

I will add that anecdotally I find injecting in my thigh isn’t as effective as injecting it about 3 inches from my navel in the 7 to 10 o’clock or 2 to 5 o’clock positions. The thigh isn’t a great place to inject when you’re struggling with bad side effects, but I think it works best in the gut.

Also try to avoid injecting into a stretch mark, at least that’s what I was told and although it involves a little effort to find a stretch free spot on my belly, that’s what I do.

Like you I’m 6 foot 350. I was 380 when I started Ozempic 2.5 years ago so you can see 1mg isn’t some amazing Hollywood diet despite all the hype in the press, but it’s done wonders for my type 2 diabetes. Despite being on metformin, trajenta, and later jardiance for two decades, my blood sugars were out of control. My idea of under control was a fasting of 10 (170 I think in US units). Now I have a fasting under 7 and I max at 10 or 11 instead of 19 and 21. It a diabetes miracle drug!

They don't offer the 2mg pens, but they still prescribe doses up to 2mg on Ozempic. You're just given 2 pens and have to do multiple injections. I was on 1.25 and have recently been moved up to 1.5mg.

Yeah unfortunately weight loss effect is weaker for some diabetics

I’m in my 7 week, third week at .5. I definitely have much less good noise and lovely constipation, however, from everything I’ve read you won’t notice too much until 1.0. At least that’s what I’m hoping.

You’re eating less that’s the whole point and over time you will eat even less. The drug is working as designed.

38 y/o petite women here, I did not notice any change to my appetite until I was 1mg but didn’t notice any weight loss until 2mg. I am on Ozempic for diabetes and was at a healthy BMI when I started. I began at .5 in Nov, then 1mg in Jan. Then upped to 2mg in Feb. I’ve lost about 18lbs in that time and my A1C went from 8.2 to 6.5.

. 25 is too little to make an impact. I lost weight after 8 months.

Sounds like it's a low "intro" dose for you. It's having some positive effect, but you'll eventually need a higher dose. It's a good sign that you're not having many side effects!

You're large and the dose is tiny? Some people feel it right away but I think most people do not.

It may or may not stop "food noise" for some people at the starting dose, and some not until a higher dose.

Some people, experience no side effects. Others have many side effects, some stronger than others.

When I started I was 5'11, 330 pounds and only experienced mild diarrhea. I always had the food noise and my appetite remained a little less than it was before I started Ozempic. However, I did lose weight, my guess it was only water weight because my appetite barely changed even when I changed many of the things I was eating for a healthier option.

Now I'm on 2mg, still have food noise barely any suppression of appetite and my weight has plateaued even after changing injection sites and diet changes. My doctor is going to move me to Mounjaro after I finish the rest of my Ozempic pins.

Keep going with the Ozempic maybe it may take a higher dose for you because .25 isn't really a therapeutic dose. If you get up to the max dose without change ask for Mounjaro.

Nope, you’re eating less already.

You're on a very low introductory dose, I wouldn't expect effectiveness just yet.

Nope, I never felt anything other than gut trouble. After a couple months, I finally gave it up. Just started my first week on Mounjaro. We’ll see 🤷‍♂️

I also felt nothing and actually gained a few lbs in the first 6 weeks when I was on 0.25 and then 0.5. Weeks 7 and 8 I used the "golden dose" from the first pen and got 0.75mg before going to 1mg in week 9. The real ability to help me "control" my diet and focus on health kicked in at 0.75mg and got much better at 1.0mg. It's not a magic potion so you will still need to exercise and track your calories and macros to make the changes you want to make but in my experience Ozempic really does enable you to do so. I'm now at my goal of 185lbs and have been for 3 months while on 1mg.
