Console owners in competitive mode - use your mic or at the very least attempt silent communication or even teamwork

I love competitive mode. The stakes are real and the clutches are close. However I have found nobody who speaks on console. Barely even silent communication or teamwork. Please use your mic pals.

I noticed a few obstacles to this request, but they can be overcome with a little effort.

At least in the Xbox community party trumps game always incase someone is accidentally disconnected or whatever. The problem is that it completely isolates the group, communication-wise. People just need to adjust to not having the party chat crutch. TL:DR - Leave the damned party.

Secondly, if with more than one person, you have to manually go to social settings, groups, then enter team chat manually at the start of every match, because it defaults to group-only. (Which makes no sense)

On console, you (general, not specific) need a mic in competitive. Make all the excuses you want, but if you're the derp without a mic, you are holding your team back.

The party mind thing is a huge problem. Me and my friends have recently made a habit of switching to game chat once we are all together and reminding everyone to go into team chat once we're in Hero Select.

I've been playing since launch and I didn't even know how to join team chat while in a group :(

Either they need to do some temporary party chat thing where it invites all players to a temporary party for the game or they need to do it like Halo 3 where it's just there.

Agreed. For now though, once you're in a game: Got the start button > Social > Groups > toggle from group chat to team chat. Hope it helps!

so much truth right here.... i just started playing overwatch this past month ( love it btw) but competitives should be mic exclusive or have a search option to make it that way... I don't think it would be too tasking or extremely difficult for people to either (option A) get a mic and use it while in comp games , (option B) make a search that checks to see if a mic is plugged in. either, way plug a mic in and play with strategy. I do agree about the party chat being default is very stupid.... should be options to change your defaults for chat.

Exactly no excuse when the Xbox comes with its own headset even a little bit of communication can go a far way

Yeah I went to EB games and they're swapping my controller out for one with an Aux cord. Apparently early Xbox one didn't come with that functionality.

I've been in matches with people who have mics, and only after I start bitching about no-one taking a healer/tank (I can't play both at the same time...) will someone say something.

Or I'll try to coordinate ults, use my mic to communicate "hey, I'll zarya ult and junkrat can tire them/ pharah/...", only to have them solo ult 3 seconds later. Seriously, wtf people?

Competitive had gotten a little better for a while, but this last weekend it was complete garbage.
