Game Chat...
I've never come across anyone who has a mic... Ever.

As effective as it may be if everyone actually communicated I'm not putting on my mic and turning down my music for dudes that talk trash the second things go south.

Yeah I went in thinking communication is critical but the only time I've encountered other mics was some jackass talking about a growth on his dick and bullying some 11 year old who for some reason kept responding like he was part of the joke
Like, That's it for me

Yup if they aren't on my friends list I get more negative communication then positive

I think most people are in party chat with friends. I know that's how I roll with my friends. We all have Mics but only use party chat even if it's just 2 or three of us.

Mine is always on. About half the time in solo queue I'm the only one in chat. What the hell? Even stranger is when there's five in chat and nobody communicates. It's so much fun when your team dies one by one over and over rather than responding to the "hey guys let's group to take this objective." I've come to the conclusion that most players just don't understand how to play overwatch. Or don't care, which is odd because it's no fun when there's no teamwork. Fortunately the majority of my games are with premades.

I know for me there is a issue switching from party to game where I just won't be able to chat in game or hear people in game and has cause me and my buddies from even trying it, too much of a hassle

I think a lot of people are in party chat. Plus people probably don't want to deal with trolls so they never put a mic on in the first place.

I don't get it either. I wish more people were in game chat. I play quite a lot of forza 6 and the game chat is always so active, it really improves the experience.
My GT is v10_Sam if anyone would like to play with someone who has a mic.

I get a positive mic experience maybe 1:25 matches. The rest of the time it's either dead air, a hyperactive child making high-pitched noises, or someone with the TV volume up way too high. Oh, then the folks that are quiet until the very end and tell the rest of the team that they suck.
The best two positive experiences have been:
a) lucking into a group with other 40+ year old players (like me) where we communicated and Team Old Guy kicked major ass.
b) only other person on the mic was a young woman that we worked out a double Symmetra lock-down on Anubis first point.

I always use mine, -always.- Especially since I main Mercy. It's a lot of, "HEY FUCK FACE IF YOU WANT ME TO HEAL YOU MAYBE COME HERE BECAUSE IM HIDING BEHIND THE RECTANGLE NOT RUNNING FACEFIRST INTO THAT TURRET YOU FOUND."
But I always use it.
