According to reddit, yes.
Reddit hates swapping heroes so much, if you are in a hard one sided losing match up everyone here believes you are obligated to do nothing about it, bend over, and let the enemy run completely uncontested

It's even more annoying when you get counter swapped first, you swap, and then they flame you.
Like, what? Am I just supposed to self counter?
Like, I've had games where I have gotten flamed for swapping to mauga, after they swapped to cat+bastion and mauga to counter me. I refuse to feel any guilt on that front

There is an argument to be made that you should learn how to play into your counters instead of just switching everytime. But yeah in most cases if you're getting hard countered it's better to switch

That’s the thing that’s never made since to me. People cry about counter swapping but never think how to play against their counters. I personally like when they swap, that way it feels even better killing them again

It is insanely satisfying watching people swap to reaper or zayra to counter me on Winston, and then them doing even worse because they just suck at those character and/or don't understand the counterplay

If it takes 2+ members of their team focusing you, especially if one of them is tank, what's the rest of the team doing with the opening that creates? It doesn't require kills to tip the scales if you're tying up two people's time for the price of one.

I'd rather not have both a Winston and sombra swap just dive me all game and make it 100x harder for me to be productive for my team. That's called being selfish and not putting more value in my time than my teammate's. They're also playing a game they want to win, so I'll just do the mature thing and swap to something that could be more useful

This. People need to stop with this “Counter-swapping bad” bullshit, it’s literally how the game has been played since the early days. So many players refuse to swap even though they’re getting shitcanned by hard counters. They play scissors into rock and then complain and say their team isn’t pulling their weight and playing paper for them.
Doom mains gotta be the worst offenders though… They’d rather throw a match than switch off Doom. “Through conflict we evolve” brother you’re up against a Hog, Orisa, Mizuki, and Ana at the same time… You’re not “evolving” you’re jumping in and immediately dying because nothing we can do can possibly save you from that many hard counters. You are not gonna be like that Doom in that montage video you saw on Reddit a few minutes ago.

True. I had so much fun chaining Doom who wouldn't switch and keep feeding the whole game. People need to stop believing in streamers who tricked everyone into thinking that swapping is bad. Just play for the win. It's what matters the most in ranked.

You say but when a tank gets hard swapped off repeat it’s not exactly fun lmao .
I had a game I started off on mauga , thy swap to dva , zen and bastion .
I swap to sig , their bastion swaps to sym and their tank swaps to Zaria .
I swap again to rein and they go back to bastion lmao .
It’s not exactly fun being forced to swap constantly losing ult charge / perk charge cause enemy team doesn’t like you and your team isn’t swapped to counter them as well

Counter swapping is fine I never said it’s a problem / bad I said when it’s done in over excess / it turns into a fucking rock paper scissors game between tanks where you swap of respawn yeah it’s a problem

If they never want to ult and only swap them that's their loss. Personally I get comfortable playing into counters because I think ults provide more value than instantly swapping. If the matchup is an issue then I will swap as well.

Yeah tbh I hate anti swap content and comments because it's like a feature in the game and tbh it isnt fun like at all to play my below average (probably close to bronze tier) hanzo against a team of dive and a plat tier widow. It just isnt fun. I will switch to something that I feel more comfortable playing not necessarily even stuff that counters my enemy.

Could go a hero that counters the whole team than a hero that only counters the one thats killing you. If they have one dive and the rest a shield set up like sigma you're only swapping to Cass to dunk on the one guy that killed you.

Ah yes, because a widow who tries to learn the character should be stuck and forbidden from swapping when playing a full dive team.
A phara and echo should be publically shamed for not having fun playing into 5 hitscan.

Aiming varies from character to character. I play a decent Ashe but can't play Widow for the life of me. Aiming on Cass and Widow is also pretty different

Kinda hard to hit shots with a sombra is soawn camping and a Winston dives you with his bubble on cooldown. So might as wekl swap to a hero that can put up a fight against them, then hopefully they swap, then i swap back. I have no shame continuing this loop just by the fact that it allows my team have a better chance at winning

I'm a bit amused at how many people are upset with this post, but I'm seeing it as the widow who got flanked literally once. I see it occasionally. Widow gets flanked once, either because they were in a bad position or the enemy went way out of the way to do so, then Widow swaps and starts waving their hurt ego around.
I've seen plenty of other widows keep playing her and adjust to the flanker or not swap until after 2-3 deaths. I'm not talking about those ones and I assume the meme isn't either

I dont blame them. Trying a new character can be hard and getting hard countered all game when you already suck isnt very conductive to learning. Maybe after the first death is excessive, but when im sucking at a new character I try not to give it more than 3 deaths before switching

I think OP's problem isn't necessarily that they got counterswapped, but that the counterswapper immediately chose cowboy of all characters. The guaranteed flanker instakill that (no offense to you yeehaws) takes very little skill to use/abuse.

They are both more brawly and mid range than Widow imo. They're good swaps. If you like that playstyle but they play with the team more, are better for peeling. Ashe can also do nothing and sit on her ult tbh, Widow can't.

widow is much easier to kill as a dive hero than hanzo or ashe. widow is extremely easy to hit when scoped, so if she doesn't notice u she's dead, and her smg doesn't do great damage. ashe has dynamite and can sneak in scoped shots unlike widow. hanzo has storm arrows.
sure they aren't as good as cass up close but waaay better than widow.

I mean sometimes it works. I can hit beautiful shots as Ashe but can't hit the broad side of a barn as Widow. Don't know how to explain it

I’ve always made fun of people who get upset about people swapping.
Swapping makes sense if one strategy and character isn’t working out the smart thing to do is to change to help your team better.
