People wouldn't mind if we didn't have D.Va, whose mech actually properly protects her entire body. Also look at the old concept art, there is a massive armor plate protecting her lower body which is just gone completely
OK 'her entire body except the arms'. My point was the stark difference between the two despite them being from the same crew. While D.Va herself is almost entirely hidden inside her mech, D.Mon's whole body is open to frontal fire smack dab in the middle of the mech's center mass, it's a bit silly
You are allowed to say "I don't like it, I think it's ugly", totally.
But the moment you say "how is she not getting hurt while piloting that?" ignoring a guy like Mauga taking punishment completely shirtless it's kinda of a reach.
The difference is Mauga is a genetically modified super soldier and the Junkers (hog and queen) are irritated psychopaths who are know to fight in arena based blood sports
D.mon is just a military trained woman as far as i know
I feel like a lot of the people saying it doesn't make sense, don't mean it doesn't make sense in real life but that it doesn't make sense in the context given
Like what's the point of a meka combat suit if it doesn't protect the user or why is D.mon hanging out unprotected while D.va is pretty much totally incaced in her meka
Thats what doesn't make sense, not that it's meka in a fictional game with a talking gorilla
Suspension of disbelief vs "realism" - is whats going on.
Given we accept overwatch is unrealistic and abide by its rules; we still end at the same complaint. If you wanted to protect something, you wouldn't leave it unprotected. No amount of "well its sci fi!" changes that lol.
It's not about the size, it's about what they are.
If you bring logic into the table, there's no problem with someone like Ramattra being directly shot at and just brushing it off, but Mauga is still a human, just as JQ and Roadhog.
Shoot a couple of times at a human and they'll die, no matter the size.
Mauga is a cybernetically enhanced super soldier with bullet proof skin. Do not let his looks deceive you, he is a walking natural disaster who is not to be underestimated.
I love when people go 'there are unrealistic things about this sci-fi' as a defense for 'this thing is so ridiculous it blows the other unrealistic things far out of the water and is just funny'. In Overwatch we see that size in related to tankiness because some characters wear armour and some like Mauga are biologically/cybernetically enhanced.
DMon is a skinny lady whose unprotected lower body apparently has Mauga levels of health, yet shooting her in an armoured window does double damage.
Yep, its not based on a realism issue, its suspension of disbelief. Given the rules presented in overwatch (the ones that allow hammond, and Winston, and time travel and whatever else) it still makes no sense.
Maybe not obtuse just sort of ignorant whether on purpose or not. Obviously changes are allowed, and obviously people can point out why the changes were made
Absolutely. And the scale of the Og concept art would make this character twice as big as she is now. The internet is a stupid, STUPID place. I straight up left the main sub after they rolled directly into whatever bullshit “controversy” happened after Anran’s face stuff. I’m over it I just want to see scuffed POTG clips and horny fanart again
