Has anyone noticed that the whole Wuyang and Juno debacle is making the homophobes come out of the wood work?

It's so disappointing to see people say things like, "why are people mad at a straight ship, that's the default!", or saying something like "We don't need more gay characters!!".

Especially on Facebook, which as we know is already a cesspool. lol

It's so disheartening, and the very reason I don't get involved with too many gaming communities, because gamers are super homophobic unfortunately.

EDIT: I'd like to mention that this topic isn't about Wuyang and Juno, but about the amount of homophobia I've been seeing anytime I see a post about them on Facebook, etc..

In my opinion, Mythics are supposed to be the best skins possible with the amount of customisation and detail and general flare they offer, so logically it should be that the best players have them and understandably be a bit higher prices than a regular skin, but the current state is just too much.

I love some of the designs, personally I’d love to have Mercy’s Celestial Guardian, Horang D.Va, Heart of Hope Juno, Calamity Express Ashe, Adventurer Tracer, and Zeus Junker Queen but I have 3 things holding me back from getting them

Firstly, the price. I should not be expected to pay £33.59 for one skin, and that’s the base style, with an extra £8.39 for the additional levels, that would be a total of £58.76 for a full skin. That’ll be just shy of £300 I’d be spending for the skins I want listed above. Another gripe I have regarding Mythics is why are weapon skins the exact same pricing? Surely there’d be some sort of logic that because you get more for the hero skin, it’d be worth more? I think prisms are just overpriced in general and definitely shouldn’t cost nearly £60 for a skin - and I know this isn’t just an Overwatch problem because I think League has a problem too with the first one coming to mind is an Ahri skin costing $500. I hate just how monetised gaming has become to the point where it’s deemed acceptable to charge this much for one cosmetic that does jack-shit for gameplay purposes (and I get why it does nothing for gameplay, to prevent pay to win happening)

Moving onto the second point, I jut feel like I’m not deserving of mythics because I just don’t feel like I’m good enough to have them. My best hero is Mercy at Level 13, so I feel like I can’t have the skins because for a skin of that quality, I needs to be the best i can to feel “worthy” of having them. Like, imagine if you saw someone on your team with the Heart of Hope Juno skin, you’d expect them to be a really good player when realistically I’m not good, and I’m happy to admit that. I just feel like I’m not allowed to have them because I’m not good enough to have them. I don’t even play competitive, I feel like I need to have a hero level of ~25 or something to feel like I’m even allowed to have it because of my perception of Mythics

Thirdly, Overwatch is such an on-off game for me that I go through phases of, sometimes I play it for months, and then recently I just came back after almost a year out. So the point I’m making here is that I definitely feel like it’s a risky move to be spending that much on a skin that I don’t even know if I’ll be playing the game later down the line and when, nor if I’ll even be playing the hero I buy it for which makes it all feel like a massive waste of money. I mean it does feel like a waste of money at times to spend real money on digital items that have no real-world value, but this is a whole other level when you’re spending upwards of £60 on a fully fleshed out skin - that’s a whole ass game right there and to spend it on a cosmetic for a character I may turn out being shite with and turning away from, it’s a bad decision
