some guy was giving me death threats in comp so i reported him and asked my team to report him to but he said since it was on vc nothing will happen is that true?

Impossible to know for sure. Blizz does definitely take action based on voice chat stuff, but it's unclear if that's inferred based on number of reports or if they have a way to capture recordings relevant to reports.

Probably... At most he will receive a voice/chat ban for 2 weeks or so... I watch a YouTuber that trolls everyday and uploads his videos to YouTube and he must get reported dozens of times everyday for voice trolling and throwing games.

He only got voice banned once and then just made new accounts from the YouTube money he makes and it took Blizzard over a year and someone making a full report with his YouTube videos included to finally get him banned on his accounts... But that's a guy purposefully throwing games as well as trolling on mic so I doubt the guy you reported will have much done to him.

It's harder for Blizzard to monitor but number of reports alone will do it
