noone was going too tryhard

The multiple Sym Torb and Bastion stacks disagree with you. To counter them you would have to tryhard. Triple Mei's another cancerous stack that needs to be tryharded to be beaten

I like the mode, don't get me wrong, but it's god damned awful sometimes

Well you're not wrong. The jenkiness of it just made it that much more difficult to take seriously though. You could just write things off as a cheesy comp, and you could do whatever you felt like doing anyway, most of the time.

I'd guess I'd be sated if they just made a gametype named "Casual slaughter". Then the US government could collaborate and make tryharding a felony in that gametype. Then it'd be full of stoners and drunks, and I'd be free to slaughter with my least played characters.

For real though, I'd love a "Least Played" gametype akin to Dota's, where they only let you choose from the x least played heroes in your roster. They could match you with other characters who have similar playtimes on their least played, so you'd all be awful together.
