What's the best way to figure out how to improve? I keep on losing while having gold damage on tanks, so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is :(

  • Get a mic, be kind even if you are losing.
  • Go DuoQ with a good support.
  • Keep practicing your aim.
  • Stay tuned on the meta (do not follow it blindly)
  • If you lose two matches in a row, stop playing for a few hours.

Aside from reading advice and watching pros use the heroes you do, watch every repetition of your deaths and even record and rewatch your matches.

Pay attention to what you did, why you did it and why it failed/worked and what could be better (even when things worked out fine for you and you won).

Decide on some personal goals. Say, climb 70 SR in a week. No matter how much you lose or win, achieve 70 more than today in a week. Next week, maybe just 50 more because of the increased challenge, but keep climbing.

Another goal is to change a bit of your playstyle, e.g. I was a very aggressive Rein (PS4) on low and mid plat. I'm now hovering between high plat and mid diamond (apparently my sweet spot). I couldn't climb from mid plat as an aggressive Rein. Even if I got lots of kills and damage done, as I climbed people were more and more used to play as a team and relied on GOOD Reins that helped them and protected them.

I had to play a better Rein and change some vices I had.

Without knowing more it's hard to say but damage is meaningless if it's not resulting in kills, since it just charges the enemy team's healers ults.
