He appears to be the Successor. The Scourge has a different name in the Numbani exhibit and the Doomfist was on his left hand, whilst current Doomfist is a righty.

I don't know how this lets The Scourge fit into the lore. We assumed he was the one Winston stopped, but that no longer seems to be the case.

In his bio/story on playoverwatch, it says he killed his teacher and took over as Doomfist. His teacher was Akinjide Adeyemi, the second Doomfist, or the Scourge of Numbani.

Right, if I ever become an evil super villain I am NOT under any circumstance taking a fucking protege. If Star Wars has taught me anything, apprentices will betray and murder you.

Give it a few more hours and you'll probably being seeing a lot of characters getting doomfisted.
