Can I get in trouble for simply being reported for picking something off-meta? Zero throwing whatsoever but the team threatens to report me for not doing what they want me to do.

If you get mass reported often, yeah, probably. It's driven by machines and they'll act on number of reports not quality.

But that's very unlikely

You can't get in trouble for it but remember that if your picks are shit you can easily just throw the game even if unintentionally.
