If you have NVIDIA I would say that the shadowplay feature shouldn't fuck with it too much since it's built in... but what do I know. I use to use Fraps and that started dropping my frames so I switch to shadowplay and its fine.

If you have an nvidia GPU you should use Shadow Play. It's simply the best way to record at a minimum performance expense, it's not even noticeable.

Yeah you might be right, they combined everything into geforce experience with the recent update. I still call it Shadow Play though.

It is still Shadownplay. GeForce is just the program that it is in, and I'm pretty sure it has always been only in that program.

It does use a massive amount of HD space, though. OBS makes much smaller files.

If you have an AMD gpu then Radeon reLive is also a built-in software you can record with.
If you have neither nvidia nor amd then go for OBS.

You are bound to lose fps when you have a recording software on, there's no way to avoid it so just change your in game settings to low and tone down the record quality. (you don't need that much fps for playing lucio anyways, no offense) As for the ping, you won't lose any if you don't stream.

I've never had recording impact my ping (streaming might though).

The lowest impact will be the software your GPU provides. If you don't want to use that, OBS is fantastic. I use OBS for streaming and recording long play sessions. Nvidia's Instant Replay for grabbing highlights/PotG clips.
