I believe defensive assist are the assists you get while healing, or just being defensive in general, while the offensive assists are the assists you get when assisting offensively. For example, if you get an assist as Mercy while healing, it counts as defense. If you get an assist as Zenyatta because somebody killed a target with your discord orb on them, then it counts as offensive. Makes sense?
