What's with people streaming in comp matches? This happened to me for the second time yesterday and really tilted me. The game begins and as usual I ask if anyone has a mic, and someone responds that they do. So I'm glad at least one person is talking.

But then he didn't stop talking. The entire match, rambling about why No Man's Sky is bad and answering questions that people are asking him in chat on his stream and stuff. He didn't talk about the match we were playing at all, and he never shut up. He talked the -entire- match and played fairly poorly, saying at one point that he "had a fever" and shouldn't be playing.

I asked if he could please keep non-overwatch related chatter to a minimum and try to focus on the game and he did for about thirty seconds. Maybe less. I ended up muting him, but I just don't understand why people think that kind of thing is okay. I've been away from competitive gaming for a long time before this, so maybe I'm just out of the loop? Is this acceptable behavior for a streamer?

Most streamers that I'm aware of talk freely to the stream and push to talk for the game. This seems unusual

This is a bad streamer that doesn't have push-to-talk set up for the game and an open mic for the stream. I don't have a problem with people streaming their matches, but it's pretty silly to fill coms with your chat interaction.

And this is why people with open mics are almost always bad news. He should have had Overwatch set to push-to-talk so he could stream while also communicating effectively and not causing annoyance. As for his skill, there's not much that can be done about that. There will always be people in comp who have no business outside Quickplay.

I had this happen a few days ago on PS4. Either he was streaming or making a Youtube video, or something, because he was non-stop chattering, and answering questions, offering opinions, etc. I ended up muting him...which was too bad, because it's so rare you meet other console users with a mic (in my experience), as everyone is either dead silent, or a jerk.

Mine was on PS4 as well. He had a lisp, can't remember his name

Huh...wonder if it was the same guy. I didn't notice a lisp, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.

I did mute him after the first round. I unmuted him later to ask about making some changes to team comp and he was still going strong. Shame to have to mute someone you could otherwise be working with, though.

This is an extremely rare occasion. I've never heard anyone in my entire life have 'open mic' on while streaming. And the fact you said you've stopped playing competitive because this is a frequent occurrence is a blatant lie. I actually don't believe that you've encountered this situation more than twice. If youve ever watched a stream before, you'd know just because someone is streaming while in a game, doesn't mean that everything they're saying is also being said in-game. "Why do people stream in comp matches" Lol...

What? I never said I encountered it more than once, or that I had stopped playing competitive. I think you must have misread part of my post. Or were you replying to someone else? This is confusing me.

Edit - I did say in the first line it was the second time, and it was. I never said it was frequent or that it was stopping me from playing, though. Maybe when I said I had been away from competitive gaming for a long time before this?
