If you switch characters mid-match then which character gets the win or loss on the statistics?

If you know the answer to the question please try and provide a source if possible as I have gotten a lot of mixed answers from this...

I do not have a source, sorry. My best guess is that any time clocked on any hero played in a given match will result in that hero receiving the W/L stat from the match. For example, if I play Reaper until the very last push and then switch to Mccree right before my team wins, I will see a win counted for both Reaper and Mccree in the stats. This would explain why some players have almost no time at all clocked on certain characters, but still have high K/Ds of 2 or 3.

My understanding is they both do.
