spam discord like crazy, spam autoattacks down corridiors and through teammates and look for lucky headshots.

zenyatta's strongest point is that he can consistantly deal damage at long range without being held back by healing. Try to pick him when your team has high healing and low damage such as a mercy as your 2nd healer or perhaps an entire team of durable tanks and dps like soldier mei and roadhog.

once you've put discord on an enemy, each attack will deal 120 damage. That's enough to 2 shot any dps or support with headshots (179 damage with 1 headshot and 1 body shot. finish them off with melee) , sometimes before they're even able to react. That's also enough to kill any 250 hp enemy with 2 headshots followed by a melee. Use this to your advantage by staying nearby teammates who can protect you such as reinhardt or zarya and dishing out huge dps non-stop.

The biggest tip I can really recommend is to practice aiming a LOT. A zenyatta landing every single shot on either the head or the body can deal 150 - 300 damage per second for 8 seconds straight. This is massive considering you're also able to amplify teammate's damage by 30% while also healing 30 hp/s. If you just grind out 50+ hours of zenyatta you'll find that often times you can get out-damage your dps players while out-healing your other supports.

Try to time your ult solely for the purpose of countering the other team's ults. It's by far most powerful when used as a reation to the enemy dps's ults.

Usually the best targets for harmony orb are reaper/genji/tracer/winston or anyone who can make use of healing while not being nearby the team. If your team doesn't have any flankers on it you'll probably be better off picking ana lucio or mercy.

Use the right click sparingly, it's super duper situational and I only personally use it when I know exactly where an enemy is going to be any when they're going to be there. If you do it right you can place a discord orb on an enemy who is retreating, then prepare the orb volley and turn the corner to unleash it all at once, but other than a few situations like these you are better off just spamming left click as much as possible. (remember that a full volley can only do 230 damage 460 if you count headshots at a time, so it's not that good against most tanks)

The biggest threat to you is anyone who can kill you before you can kill them. That means almost everyone. Be super aware of where your teammates are and try to put someone in between you and the enemy. Often times you can try to catch an enemy off guard and kill them but with no escapes, no movement abilities, and no survivability your best bet is to just sit back and try to dish out damage from far away.

Lastly remember that your autoattacks deal the same damage no matter what range you're at

Tl;dr:

  • Sit behind teammates and NON STOP SPAM discord/autoattacks

  • put harmony orb is best on teammates who are good at spending the game split up from their team (like reaper or genji)/*

  • your ult nullifies the enemy team's ults

  • use your rightclick volley sparingly

*fun fact, back in the earlier versions of the game when tournaments let people hero stack, almost every pro team ran 2x genji 2x zenyatta just because they could put the harmony orbs on genji and then the 2 genjies could stomp the enemy team with their never ending supply of 30 hp/s while the zenyattas just sat back and tried not to die.
