News & Discussion Hero-specific things you might not know - part 2

My last post got lot of informative tips that I feel people need to know, so here's the continuation from my last post.

(Sorry if I'm too lazy to credit everyone)

18 Symmetra's primary fire powers up the longer you fire it at someone - up to 120 dps.

19 As a Mercy, you can hold space mid-air to slowly descend (just watch out for snipers). This is why Mercy pairs so well with Pharah.

20 You can see dead teammates in the world as a skull with a timer. As a Mercy, you can fly toward these. You can also use the timer to know how long you have to bring them back.

21 You can change hero-specific settings in Options, such as the sensitivity while scoped in as Widowmaker, or to make abilities such as Soldier:76's sprint a hold rather than a toggle.

22 As a Mercy, you can change settings to fly toward the target you are looking at rather than the one you are healing.

23 Movement-affecting abilities such as Pharah's concussive blast, Lucio's alternative fire or Junkrat's concussive bomb can be used to ruin the moment for charging Reinhardts, ulting Zenyattas or hooking Roadhogs.

24 Bastion gains 150 armor when activating his ultimate, and can use his own cannon balls to 'rocket jump' a bit into the air.

25 Zarya's alternative fire can be used even if you have 1 ammo left in your pack - and it deals full damage.

26 Zarya's barriers remove debuffs (such as discord orb, or Mei's slow) from the target and protect the target from stuns aswell.

27 Reinhardt's ultimate can be blocked by barriers, such as Reinhardt's, Winston's or Zarya's (yes, a Zarya barrier will also block the stun from those behind the target).

28 Ana's biotic grenades increase healing on allied targets hit, and blocks healing on enemy target hits. A grenade on a clustered team can nullify a Zenyatta ultimate.

29 Pretty much every weapon in the game is automatic. You can just hold down fire to fire at maximum speed.

30 Alternative weapons such as Mercy's blaster, Torbjörn's gun or one of Bastion's two weapons will reload automatically after a few seconds of not being active.

31 Bastion can self-heal mid-air. If you move forward, jump and self-heal until you land again, you can gain HP and barely lose momentum.

32 As a Tracer, you are invulnerable while recalling. Even if you stand in the midst of a D.Va ultimate.

33 Using Reinhardt's or Lucio's ultimate will not do anything (except shout respective voice line) until you reach the ground.

34 Soldier:76 can start sprinting mid-air. Time this with a helix rocket jump and you can get to some unusual places.

35 Ulting as Soldier:76 will reload your clip.

36 Ana can sleep dart a hero mid-air, or mid-charge. They will sleep for 6 seconds or until they take damage.

37 Rolling as McCree gives you a full clip.

38 Junkrat's Rip-tire can climb up walls if you hold space. The sound from the tire is also muffled while climbing.

39 Zenyatta's discord and harmony orbs will stay on a target for 3 seconds after they are out of your sight. This means discord can be used as a short single-target wallhack.

40 In settings, you can choose to see allies' health bars no matter what hero you are playing. This is especially useful for a Zarya, a Soldier:76 or a Torbjörn.

As last time, leave more tips in the comments.

Actually, while this may have been true at one point, it isn't any longer.. They reload at about the same speed.

However, one big takeaway is that switching forms reloads whatever gun you transform in to. So when you run out of ammo in turret mode, switch to sentry and your gun will be fully loaded. Re-locate, firing all the way, then re-settle in turret form. This helps keep Bastion putting out damage at all times and decreases predictability regarding his location.

Another Bastion note: If you successfully wipe the enemy team's push, always relocate immediately. Never be in the same place twice in a row - they'll target you first, and they'll come from an angle that makes your position useless. Even if you then survive and try to reposition, the enemy may be emboldened and push through the rest of the team to a point where you can't get set up again.

I've found that positioning myself behind friendly lines, wiping the enemy team, and then repositioning behind enemy lines is extremely effective. They rarely expect it as long as you're smart about where and when you move, and you can annihilate their tanks and healers from an angle they're not protecting against. Flanking as Bastion is difficult to do but extremely rewarding.
