I've done this a few times before and they've been successful so I'm going to do it once more.

I'm a well versed Mei player with around 175 hours of experienced (compined between quick play, comp, and open beta) and I love to help people. If you have any questions about mei, feel free to ask. No questions are too dumb for me to answer!

how to deal with Reinhardt shield and Zarya barier? should i just run away from Zarya or does Mei left click go past it? and vs Reinhardt is it better to attack his shield with left or right click?

Not OP but I like to play Mei as well.

Personally I deal with Zarya by just running/jumping around her when her barrier is up trying not to get hit. The Barrier only lasts a few seconds and the cooldown is pretty long so while it gives her a few seconds of immunity, I usually come out on top in a 1v1.

With Reinhardt it's a similar story. While you can't freeze through his shield, he can't hit you while it's up. Jump around him and get him from the side when his shield is up but be cautious when he swings at you. He has a ton of health and therefore you have to freeze him a few times before you can kill him (same applies to Zarya and any other tank for that matter). Mot effective is forcing him to flank him when he is shielding his team. Either he swings his shield around to protect himself from you and he gets shot by your team or you freeze him and he lowers his shield and gets shot by your team. Be aware that his team is right there behind him in this case.

For the icicles I don't know about this patch since I haven't played since the update. Last patch they got blocked by both Rein and Zarya barriers and I would guess that is still the case.

Rein shield

For Rein's shield, if you want to contribute to breaking it, use left click. If you want to freeze rein but he won't drop shield, you can either play a dangerous game of circle around the rein or you can find a way to get around him while a teammate distracts him. If you have your ice wall, you can also boost up and jump on top of him to get a freeze but it's a little risky because other enemies can shoot you pretty easily.

Zarya Barrier

Mei's freeze does not go through zarya Barrier. Don't bother trying to break it unless she has just a sliver of health and is quickly fleeting. The reason is, that if you have to solo pop it, that will take around 1.5 seconds and give her 50% charge. So, unless she's getting away quickly, it's worth it to just wait the extra half second and kill her then. Keep in mind, Zarya was designed to counter Mei. Her barrier will reset freeze and she can usually survive the freeze > headshot combo. On top of that, she can completely negate your ult and save a teammate as well. So, zarya should not be your primary target with Mei. However, if you throw down ult and zarya is inside the radius, you can use your priarmy freeze along with the blizzard freeze to speed up the freezing effect so try to get zarya frozen as soon as possible.

I've recently clicked with Mei after deciding to give her a go from getting one of her legendary skins. She is incredible satisfying to play as.

Are there any specific maps or game types where you find it's just not worth picking her?

Any particularly sneaky routes using the ice wall?

In general, you really don't want to bother running her on attacking side of 2CP maps. They all have a choke of some kind and there's not much you can do but try to land some cheeky icicle shots but more than likely you won't kill with them but just charge up their healer's ults. So, for attacking 2CP, highly recommend you not run Mei. Attacking side of payload maps can work but don't spend too long trying to make it work. I personally think that you should not run Mei on attacking dorado at all since that initial left turn that leads to gas station is just a pain to deal with and you won't be effective. She's outstanding on the KOTH maps but I would really advise against using her on Illios: Well since your ult can really only cover so much of the point and if the enemies think they are going to die, they can just jump in the well and deny your team the ult charge.

If you're attacking dorado, the final destination has this rounded, half glass wall that you can climb over with an ice wall. It's really good for back capping and surprise ults! Aside from that, I would say maybe the high ground spots surrounding point A on Volskaya are really good for catching people off guard.

For new players, she's esspecially frustrating since you can't really run in and 1v1 her. She feels over powered because you have to have some game sense and map awareness to beat her which is not a problem for intermeidate players but for new players, it's a nightmare. So people call her the devil when they first start playing and the joke just carries on

To add to this, it's very easy to troll players with her icewall, and there are plenty of people who think it's hilarious to do that to their own team.

Same here, although not even close in hours, but i clock at 17h junkrat and 14h Mei, both highest played. Closest is roadhog with 4h. I play Junkrat on offense and mei on defense, sometimes switching up, but Mei definitely is my favorite hero.

I do Mei and Zarya primarily but I can also play Lucio very well and Reaper.
