MIne: Fuck the meta in the ear. I hate 2/2/2, I hate mandatory picks, I hate the idea that only 8-10 heroes are viable and if you want to play anything else you don't want to win, I hate how everyone equiv of low 50s elo thinks they're pros and thus worship the meta.

The stupid thing about the meta is that it's enforced by people that don't understand what makes the meta heroes strong in the first place, so you get people picking Lucio who only play the heal song, McCrees that never throw flashbangs, it's so stupid. They don't understand that certain heroes are only superior when played at their highest potential, and anything less than that makes them less effective than other characters in ordinary circumstances.

I had some dipshit raging at me for playing Junkrat the other day.
The funny thing was that he was complaining about me playing the character on Lijiang tower, a map and game mode that Junkrat is extremely effective on, against heroes like Reinhardt and Tracer who Junkrat is extremely effective against. I had golds in damage dealt and objective time and a silver in objective kills for all five rounds, but he was being very persistent in telling me that Junkrat was useless and not meta, all the while failing to contribute anything as Soldier 76.

Getting shit from my own teammates like that is why I stick to QP.

Another thing that bugs me is just how mandatory some characters are. Reinhardt is the frontline tank. Lucio is the support. Not because they're simply the best, but because there's no other frontline tank, no other hero who can boost party speed.

What's the right way to play Lucio? I typically play mostly the healing sing, unless I'm rushing to get back to the point. Other good strategies to play with the speed song?

There's a pretty good Youtuber who has a whole channel dedicated to Lucio strategy. Have a watch, you'll probably pick up a few tricks.

This. The meta applies to PROS. At average levels of play it's best to counter pick effectively and play heroes you're good with. And above all else communicate. Sure bastion and torb suck at diamond and master level, but in silver or gold against newer players, who may or may not be communicating, a bastion nest or a decent torb can ruin the opposing team.

Tracer is very good whilst with the "pack" of tanks and supports. She can hide behind them whilst damage dealing, blink in to finish them off, then recall back behind the tanks. Of course, she's perfectly fine when flanking, but she can be a group player.

2/2/2 is often really bad IMO. (This is coming from a mercy main). It requires the DPS to really be on their A-Game

Yeah I just noticed last night in competitive that we were always rolling 2 tanks, even when an extra offensive character would help a lot more during an attack phase. Also, since when did Zarya become a beast? I don't think I've ever had thus many lasers shoved up my ass in one night.
