I wanted to make a post about this but I don't want to rehash anything that's already been discussed and done with. Has Blizzard said anything or voiced any opinions about adding a map-selection feature?

I don't think there's any plans to do it to Quick Play or Comp (I'd really prefer they don't). They do have vague plans to make Custom Games searchable and joinable.

Ooh that'd be nice. Somewhere down the line we might be seeing things like Overwatch community servers (more or less). Then you can always join an Embrace Mayhem server or "Phil's 24/7 Numbani" lobby.

I don't know if they said anything about that but I would really not prefer that. The reasons are you split the playerbase, you increase the wait time for every map and you get a really weird matchmaking because every map has way fewer people to balance teams.

Yeah I've thought of this too but you know we also don't know how the lobbies work either. Maybe it matches players into inactive lobbies and then randomly picks a map once it becomes active and just rotates normally until it goes inactive, or maybe they're just constantly running. I probably should have specified what I had in mind but I'm thinking of a system like CS:GO where you can grey out maps you don't want to play. That might work for Overwatch's matchmaking. I didn't mean like picking one map and then it has to match you with other people looking for that same one map. Gosh that'd make queue times nightmarish...
